The 2012 French Albums Chart

Like in the United States, Adele‘s “21” is for the second consecutive year the best-selling album in France with around 615,800 sales (thanks to RCGrayson from Charts In France for the estimated sales). “21” was at the top of the albums chart for seven weeks in 2012 from January to March. With only eight weeks on the chart in 2012, Céline Dion is not far behind at number two with “Sans Attendre” (568,609 sales) which ruled the chart for two weeks in November and December.

“L’Apogée” is the third best-seller for 2012 for Sexion D’Assaut with around 556,000 sales. The album was at the top for five weeks from March to June. “Génération Goldman” is at four with 486,738 sales even if it was only released in November. In 2011 “Dans L’Oeil Des Enfoirés” reached number three, Les Enfoirés are number five in 2012 with “Le Bal Des Enfoirés 2012” (around 390,000 sales).

“Jamais Seul” was number 14 in 2011 for Johnny Hallyday, he is number six in 2012 with “L’Attente” (387,049 sales), it was at the top in the week ending 18th November. Lana Del Rey‘s “Born To Die” was number one for two weeks in February and is at seven for 2012 with around 347,200 sales. At number eight you can find Muse with “The 2nd Law” (around 313,800 sales), the album was at the top for three consecutive weeks in October.

Even if it was released in December, Mylène Farmer‘s “Monkey Me” reached number nine for 2012 with 308,560 sales. “A La Poursuite Du Bonheur” is at ten for M. Pokora with around 277,600 sales.

Les Stentors were number one for three non-consecutive weeks in May and June with “Voyage En France”, and are number eleven for 2012 with around 237,600 sales. It was also a great year for Birdy whose eponymous album is at number 12 with 234,600 copies sold. “Le Droit De Rêver” is at 13 for Tal with around 216,300 sales.

Patrick Bruel‘s “Lequel De Nous” is another album which was released late (in November), yet it’s at number 14 with 206,482 sales. “Lequel De Nous” reached the top of the albums chart in the week ending 2nd December. “Bretonne” was number two in 2011 for Nolwenn Leroy, she is at number 15 in 2012 with “O Filles De L’Eau” (182,375 sales).

Shy’m is at 16 with “Caméléon” (around 181,800 sales) which entered the albums chart at the top in the week ending 1st July. Shy’m was number 25 with “Prendre L’Air” in 2011. We can also notice at 18 Vincent Niclo & Les Choeurs De L’Armée Rouge with “Opéra Rouge” (around 160,000 sales), “The Geeks And The Jerkin’ Socks” at number 20 for Shaka Ponk (around 158,000 sales).

Like in 2011 when she was at 10 with “Loud” and at 37 with “Talk That Talk”, Rihanna has two albums in the top 50, “Unapologetic” at number 19 (157,945 sales), and “Talk That Talk” at 49.

2012 was more difficult for Madonna, only at 44 with “MDNA” (around 83,100 sales), or for Mika who is at number 54 with “The Origin Of Love” (around 74,100 sales) even if he entered at the top with 25,702 sales in the week ending 23rd September.
