The 2013 French Singles Chart

“Get Lucky” is the best-selling song in France for 2013 for Daft Punk featuring Pharrell Williams (360,000 sales). The song was the first (and still only) one to sell more than 30,000 downloads in one week, it even did it twice (38,887 in three days for its first week on the chart, and 33,412 the week after), and spent eight non-consecutive weeks at the top from April to July.

“Blurred Lines” is at two for Robin Thicke featuring T.I. and Pharrell (292,000 sales), it was Number One for six weeks in June and July and sold 20,555 copies during the week ending 9th June. Stromae has two songs inside the top five : “Papaoutai” at three (217,000), and “Formidable” at five (186,000). They both reached the top.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have two songs inside the ten best-sellers, their chart-topper “Thrift Shop” at number four with 206,000 downloads (featuring Wanz, Number One for eight consecutive weeks from January to March), and “Can’t Hold Us” at eight with 163,000 (featuring Ray Dalton, number three in April and May).

Avicii‘s “Wake Me Up !” is at six with 171,000 sales, the song spent two weeks at the top in August and September. Bruno Mars‘ first single taken from his very successful album Unorthodox Jukebox, “Locked Out Of Heaven” is at number seven (167,000 sales). It’s the best-selling song that didn’t get to Number One, it peaked at three in March.

Three acts own two songs inside the top ten, and Maître Gims is the third one. At nine, “J’Me Tire” spent four weeks at Number One in March and April (161,000 sales), and you can find “Bella” at number ten (159,000 sales).

2013 was another great year for Rihanna, “Stay” (featuring Mikky Ekko) is at eleven (139,000 sales), and her chart-topper from 2012 “Diamonds” is at 19 (116,000). Another song from 2012 is inside the top 20, at 12 with Adele‘s “Skyfall” (135,000 sales).

It was not a very successful year for both acts in the albums chart, but “Scream & Shout” is the 13th best-selling song in 2013 for will.i.am featuring Britney Spears (135,000 sales), the song was Number One for one week in January. At number 14, you can find a song which refused to die : Asaf Avidan & The Mojos‘ “One Day / Reckoning Song” spent its first week in the top 10 in September 2012 and was still there in March !  Its peak position (number two) was only reached in February.

The 2012 X Factor UK winner James Arthur is at a very good number 15 with “Impossible” (128,000 sales). The first 2013 chart-topper, PSY‘s “Gangnam Style” is at 16.

“Just Give Me A Reason” is at number 17 for P!nk featuring Nate Ruess (121,000 sales), it was in the ten best-sellers for nine weeks and peaked at four in March and April. Number two in April, Alex Hepburn‘s “Under” is at 18 for 2013 (117,000 sales). “Watch Out For This” is at number 20 for Major Lazer featuring Busy Signal, The Flexican & FS Green (112,000 sales), the song reached number four in June.
