Week Ending 17th May 2015 / Albums Chart

It’s a third consecutive week at the top of the French albums chart for Francis Cabrel, his In Extremis sold 24,686 copies last week (-39%) for a total of 174,236 so far. Chambre 12 is also a non-mover at number two for Louane (18,489 sales / -13%). The LP has sold around 271,600 copies in its eleven weeks on the chart (all of them in the top two).

There is no change at three for Kendji Girac‘s self-titled album in its 36th week inside the ten best-sellers (12,446 sales / -31%). Frank Michael gets his highest-charting LP, as Toi, L’Amour Et Moi is this week’s biggest new entry at number four (8,000 sales). Both Les Couleurs De Ma Vie (in November 2006) and Quelques Mots D’Amour (in June 2013) peaked at six.

Grégoire‘s Poésies De Notre Enfance debuts at number five with 7,624 copies sold. This concept album is based on poems from La Fontaine, Prévert and Verhaeren among others. It’s Grégoire‘s fourth top 10 LP, after Toi + Moi (Number One for two weeks in July and August 2009), Le Même Soleil (Number One for one week in November 2010), and Les Roses De Mon Silence (number two in September 2013).

In its second week on the chart, the compilation Top 50 – 30 Ans (100 Tubes) Vol. 2 moves down two places at six (7,000 sales / -36%). Another one, NRJ Hit List 2015 also falls two at number seven in its second week inside the top 10. Christine And The Queens slips one place at eight with Chaleur Humaine in her 21st week inside the ten best-sellers (5,565 sales / -16%).

Stars 80 – La Compilation climbs two at number nine in its 24th week in the top 250 (5,000 sales / +14%). The album is still at mid-price : Stromae‘s Racine Carrée is up six places at ten in its 91st week on the chart (4,334 sales / +14%). The album spent 26 weeks at Number One from August 2013 to July 2014.

Four albums drop out of the top 10 this week. After 38 non-consecutive weeks inside the ten best-selling LPs, Black M slips one at number eleven with Les Yeux Plus Gros Que Le Monde. Soprano‘s Cosmopolitanie moves down four places at 13 in its 31st week on the chart. Encores falls 13 at number 21 for Charles Aznavour in its second week inside the top 250. Last week’s new entry at six, Mac Tyer is down to number 32 with Je Suis Une Légende.

In its 43rd week on the chart, Fréro Delavega‘s eponymous album jumps from 21 to number 15. Eros Ramazzotti is new at 16 with Perfetto (3,000 sales). The new LP is his first top 20 album since 2009 when Ali E Radici reached number five in May. The Avener moves up nine places at 20 with The Wanderings Of The Avener in his 17th week inside the 250 best-sellers.

Bush opens at number 29 for Snoop Dogg (2,000 sales). Ego Trippin’ was his last top 30 LP in France, it peaked at 19 in March 2008. Lisa Angell‘s self-titled album is a new entry at number 46. Her last LP Frou-Frou was at 28 in May 2014. She will represent France at the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday with the song “N’Oubliez Pas”.

Week Ending 30th November 2014 / Albums Chart

Alain Souchon & Laurent Voulzy debut at the top of the French albums chart with their self-titled LP with 63,699 copies sold. It’s the fifth Number One album for Alain Souchon, after C’est Déjà Ca (for one week in February 1994), Au Ras Des Pâquerettes (for two weeks in November 1999), La Vie Théodore (for two weeks in September 2005) and Ecoutez D’Où Ma Peine Vient (for one week in December 2008). Laurent Voulzy gets his second chart-topper, La Septième Vague spent six consecutive weeks at Number One in July and August 2006.

Last week’s Number One, Johnny Hallyday slips to two with Rester Vivant (54,417 sales / -59%). The album has sold 186,266 copies in its two weeks on the chart. David Guetta‘s Listen enters at number three with 33,279 copies sold. His two Number One LPs had sold more copies in their first week : One Love (for one week in August and September 2009) had opened with 37,815 CDs sold, and Nothing But The Beat (for three consecutive weeks in September 2011) had debuted with 53,693 sales.

In his 12th week inside the top 10, Kendji Girac moves back up one place at four with his eponymous album (26,007 sales / +37%). The LP has sold 282,108 copies so far. Zaz is down one at number five with Paris in her third week inside the ten best-selling albums (21,900 sales / -2%). Pink Floyd‘s The Endless River falls three places at six in its third week in the top 10 (19,900 sales / -12%). Black M slips one at number seven with Les Yeux Plus Gros Que Le Monde in his 15th week inside the top 10 (19,800 sales / +52%).

Shy’m gets her fifth top 10 album as Solitaire is new at eight with 19,780 copies sold. Her Caméléon had opened at the top with 19,962 sales in July 2012. In its 15th week inside the ten best-sellers, Calogero‘s Les Feux D’Artifice moves down one place at nine (17,000 sales / +65%). Stratégie De L’Inespoir is a new entry at number ten for Hubert-Félix Thiéfaine (16,500 sales). Suppléments De Mensonge is his highest-charting LP, it reached number two in March 2011.

Four albums drop out of the top 10 this week. In its 40th week on the chart, Indila‘s Mini World slips four places at 14 (10,800 sales / +24%). Last week’s new entry at two, Four is down to number 18 for One Direction (8,900 sales / -72%). Their Midnight Memories had moved 2-10 in its second week in December 2013. Brigitte fall 17 places at 24 with A Bouche Que Veux-Tu in their second week inside the top 250 (6,400 sales / -49%). Live In Berlin Soundtrack moves down a massive 47 places at 56 for Depeche Mode in its second week on the chart.

With the addition of her Live Tour, Tal‘s A L’Infini jumps from 70 to number eleven in its 65th week inside the 250 best-sellers (13,700 sales). Acoustique opens at twelve for Bernard Lavilliers (12,600 sales). His Carnets De Bord (for one week in October 2004) and Samedi Soir A Beyrouth (for two consecutive weeks in January and February 2008) have been chart-toppers.

Frank Michael‘s Bonjour L’Amour debuts at number 13 (12,600 sales). Capitale Du Crime 4 is new at 15 for La Fouine (9,800 sales). He was Number One with La Fouine vs Laouni (for one week in February 2011) and with Drôle De Parcours (for one week in February 2013). Vanessa Paradis opens at 22 with her Love Songs Tour (7,000 sales). Her last live LP Une Nuit A Versailles was number 17 in December 2010.

In his 67th week on the chart, Stromae climbs (!) six places at 25 with Racine Carrée. The album has sold over 1.8 million copies in France. Aznavour, Sa Jeunesse is a new entry at 28. The Shady XV compilation enters at 32. Vieillir Ensemble (Live) is also new, at number 33 for Florent Pagny (6,100 sales). A Musical Affair is far from being Il Divo‘s fourth top 10 album in France (so far) as it debuts at 42. Their eponymous debut LP peaked at four in July and August 2005.

Week Ending 24th November 2013 / Albums Chart

With even increasing sales figures in its 14th week inside the top 10 (35,045 sales / +17%), Stromae‘s Racine Carrée is still at the top of the French albums chart for the 12th non-consecutive week. The LP has sold 597,005 copies so far.

Détroit‘s debut album Horizons is this week’s highest new entry at number two with 31,526 copies sold. Détroit is composed of Pascal Humbert and Noir Désir‘s singer Bertrand Cantat. Noir Désir had three Number One albums, 666.667 Club (for one week in November 1996), Des Visages Des Figures (for five weeks in September and October 2001), and En Public (for two weeks in September and October 2005).

Etienne Daho gets his fourth top five album in the 2000s as Les Chansons De L’Innocence Retrouvée opens at three with 25,805 sales. Corps Et Armes was Number One for one week in April 2000, Réévolution peaked at five in November 2003, and L’Invitation reached number two in November 2007. Florent Pagny moves down two places at four with Vieillir Avec Toi (21,630 sales / -19%), the album has sold 90,588 copies in its three weeks inside the ten best-sellers.

Garou‘s Au Milieu De Ma Vie enters at number five with 19,779 sales. The new album is his seventh top five LP, two of them reached the top, Seul (for five weeks from January to March 2001), and Garou (for two weeks in June 2006). In her third week in the top 10, Céline Dion slips one place at six with Loved Me Back To Life. The album increases its sales (19,078 copies sold / +11%) as she appeared in a big French TV show on France 2 on 16th November. The LP has sold 66,845 copies so far. The album Forever Gentlemen also moves down one at number seven in its fifth week inside the top 10 (14,700 sales / +29%).

Casseurs Flowters are new at eight with Orelsan & Gringe Sont Les Casseurs Flowters (11,500 sales). Orelsan got two top 20 albums, Perdu D’Avance reached number 20 in February 2009, and Le Chant Des Sirènes peaked at three in October 2011. In his third week inside the ten best-sellers, Eminem falls five places at nine with The Marshall Mathers LP 2 (11,000 sales / -41%).

IAM get their second top 10 album in 2013 as their eponymous LP opens at number ten (9,700 sales). Arts Martiens spent one week at the top in May. Revoir Un Printemps also reigned for one week in September 2003.

Five albums drop out of the top 10 this week. In her 29th week on the chart, Zaz slips three places at eleven with Recto Verso. After two weeks inside the top 10, Héros moves down six at number 13 for Eddy Mitchell. The compilation NRJ Hit List 2013 Vol. 2 falls eight places at 18 in its second week in the top 250. Frank Michael is down ten at number 19 with Encore Quelques Mots D’Amour, the album spent two weeks inside the ten best-sellers. The biggest faller is Lady Gaga‘s ARTPOP, it falls a massive 25 places at 28 (5,051 sales / -78%). The album has sold 27,903 copies in its two weeks on the chart.

Shaka Ponk‘s live album Geeks On Stage debuts at number twelve (8,100 sales), it’s their highest-charting LP, they peaked at 14 in July 2012 with The Geeks And The Jerkin’ Socks. In its 13th week on the chart, Génération Goldman Vol. 2 climbs three places at 14, it was at the top for one week in September. Another former Number One (for three weeks in June and July), Christophe Maé‘s Je Veux Du Bonheur is up nine at number 15 in its 24th week inside the top 250.

Vitaa enters at 16 with Ici Et Maintenant (7,400 sales), the new album is her third top 20 LP, A Fleur De Toi was Number One for one week in February 2007, and Celle Que Je Vois peaked at ten in January 2010. In his ninth week on the chart, Vincent Niclo is back up ten places at 23 with Luis.

M‘s new live album Îl(s) is new at number 27 (5,100 sales), the studio LP Îl peaked at four in November 2012. Swings Both Ways only enters at number 38 for Robbie Williams (3,400 sales), his last album Take The Crown reached number nine in November 2012.

Corneille‘s Entre Nord Et Sud debuts at 46, it’s a disappointing first week as his last LP Les Inséparables was his fourth top 10 album, peaking at number ten in October 2011. 20 – The Greatest Hits is new at 47 for Laura Pausini, her highest-charting album (and only top 10 so far) is Resta In Ascolto which reached number seven in October 2004.

Week Ending 17th November 2013 / Albums Chart

As he appeared in the French TV show “Le Grand Journal” on Canal + last week, Stromae‘s Racine Carrée is back up three places to spend an 11th week at the top of the albums chart (30,080 sales / +12%). The LP has sold 561,960 copies so far. Last week’s Number One, Vieillir Avec Toi is down to two for Florent Pagny (26,710 sales / -37%), the album has sold 68,958 copies in its two weeks on the chart.

It’s a disappointing new entry at number three for Lady Gaga with ARTPOP which only sold 22,852 copies last week. Born This Way opened at the top with 55,059 copies sold in May 2011, the album spent two weeks at Number One. It’s her third top three LP as The Fame peaked at two in January and February 2010.

In his second week on the chart, Eminem slips two places at four with The Marshall Mathers LP 2 (18,688 sales / -53%), the album has sold 58,083 copies so far. It’s also down two at number five for Céline Dion‘s Loved Me Back To Life (17,170 sales / -44%), 47,767 copies have been sold in its two weeks inside the top 10.

The album Forever Gentlemen stays at number six in its fourth week inside the ten best-sellers (11,400 sales / -20%). In his second week in the top 10, Eddy Mitchell moves down two places at seven with Héros (10,300 sales / -38%). Recto Verso spends a 12th week inside the top 10 as it’s back up eight at number eight for Zaz (9,200 sales).

Frank Michael slips one place at nine with Encore Quelques Mots D’Amour in his second week on the chart (8,100 sales / -14%). The compilation NRJ Hit List 2013 Vol. 2 opens at number ten with 7,600 copies sold.

Three albums drop out of the top 10 this week. After two weeks inside the ten best-sellers, Løve is down seven places at 14 for Julien Doré (6,200 sales / -37%). Grand Corps Malade‘s Funambule falls eleven at number 20 in its third week on the chart. Hayce Lemsi moves down a massive 44 places at 54 with Electron Libre in his third week inside the top 250.

De Palmas was close to get his sixth top 10 album this week as his eponymous LP debuts at eleven (7,400 sales). He was Number One for one week in October 2004 with Un Homme Sans Racines. The musical Le Soldat Rose 2 is new at number 13 (6,600 sales), the first one spent eleven weeks inside the ten best-sellers and peaked at three in November and December 2006.

In his 49th week on the chart, Bruno Mars is back up 13 at number 15 with Unorthodox Jukebox. The album Génération Goldman Vol. 2 climbs 15 places at 17 in its 12th week inside the top 250. Subliminal moves up five at number 19 for Maître Gims in its 26th week on the chart.

The Rolling Stones enter at number 18 with Sweet Summer Sun / Hyde Park Live. On Air – Live At The BBC Volume 2 is new at 26 for The Beatles, it’s their fourth top 30 album in the 2000s, Love spent one week at the top in November 2006.

Salute enters at number 38 for Little Mix, they peaked at 27 in May with their debut album DNA (3,000 sales). Another X Factor winner in the UK (in 2012), James Arthur falls 18 places at 39 with his eponymous LP in his second week on the chart.

Florent Pagny gets his seventh Number One album as Vieillir Avec Toi is new at the top with 42,248 copies sold. His six chart-toppers were Savoir Aimer (for two weeks in November 1997), RéCréation (for one week in October 1999), Châtelet Les Halles (for one week in November 2000), Ailleurs Land (for seven weeks in April and May 2003), Baryton (for three weeks in November and December 2004), and Tout Et Son Contraire (for one week in November 2010).

So The Marshall Mathers LP 2 is not Eminem‘s third Number One, the album debuts at two with 39,395 sales. Encore (for one week in November 2004), and Relapse (for one week in May 2009) reached the top. Good news for Eminem : his last studio album Recovery also entered (and peaked) at number two in June 2010, but with only 13,600 CDs sold.

Loved Me Back To Life is new at number three for Céline Dion (30,597 sales). We can notice that her last “French” album Sans Attendre was much more successful in its first week, reaching the top with 95,569 copies sold. But we can add that her last “American” LP Taking Chances sold 29,380 CDs when it debuted and peaked at number two in November 2007, so it’s not a bad week for the Canadian singer.

After ten non-consecutive weeks at the top, Stromae‘s Racine Carrée is down to four with 26,895 sales (-6%), the album has sold 531,880 copies in its 12 weeks inside the top 10. Eddy Mitchell enters at number five with Héros (16,569 sales). His last studio album Come Back entered at the top in October 2010 with 17,100 CDs sold.

After two weeks inside the top 10, James Blunt falls five places at twelve with Moon Landing. The musical Robin Des Bois moves down eight at number 14 in its 33rd week on the chart. It’s down twelve places at 15 for Arcade Fire‘s Reflektor after just one week inside the ten best-sellers. Katy Perry falls eight at number 17 with Prism in her third week in the top 20. In its third week on the chart, the compilation Le Son Dancefloor 2014 moves down ten places at 20.

Sexion D’Assaut‘s Best Of enters at 13 with 6,100 copies sold, it’s their fourth top 20 album, after L’Ecole Des Points Vitaux (number two in May and July 2010), En Attendant L’Apogée – Les Chroniques Du 75 (number three in April 2011), and L’Apogée (Number One for five weeks from March to June 2012).

James Arthur‘s eponymous debut album is new at number 21 (5,000 sales). It’s a disappointing new entry for another eponymous LP, Avril Lavigne only enters at 30 (4,000 sales). Only her debut album Let Go didn’t reach the top 10, peaking at 13 in October 2002. The Best Damn Thing was number three in April 2007, and both Under My Skin (in May 2004) and Goodbye Lullaby (in March 2011) reached number four.

Week Ending 9th June 2013 / Albums Chart

It’s a third consecutive week at the top of the French albums chart for Daft Punk‘s Random Access Memories (35,469 sales / -29%), the album has sold 280,091 copies so far.

There is much controversy in France at the moment about this week’s highest new entry. First, the facts : Jenifer debuts at two with her album of France Gall‘s most famous songs called Ma Déclaration with 27,313 sales. Jenifer‘s last album L’Amour & Moi opened and peaked at number three with 18,255 copies sold. Then, the controversy : France Gall didn’t like the fact that Jenifer has not informed her about that album, and Jenifer pretended she had France Gall‘s agreement. Anyway Ma Déclaration is Jenifer‘s fourth top two album, after Jenifer (number two in March and April 2002), Le Passage (number two in May 2004), and Lunatique (number one for one week in November 2007). France Gall‘s own best-of Evidemment is up a massive 88 places at number 41 (1,900 sales).

Johnny Hallyday‘s new live album On Stage is new at three with 23,676 sales. It’s rather disappointing as his last live LP Tour 66 : Stade De France 2009 was at the top for two weeks and opened with around 48,000 CDs sold.

In his third week in the top 10, Maître Gims slips two places at four with Subliminal (22,000 sales / -19%). It’s down two at number five for Les Stentors with Une Histoire De France in their third week inside the ten best-sellers (13,700 sales / -21%).

Recto Verso moves down two places at six for Zaz in its fourth week in the top 10 (12,108 sales / -30%), the album has sold around 113,900 copies so far. In its second week on the chart, the compilation NRJ Hit List 2013 is up a massive 149 places at number seven (7,800 sales).

Queens Of The Stone Age get their second top 10 album as …Like Clockwork enters at eight (7,200 sales), Lullabies To Paralyze peaked at number ten in March 2005, their last album Era Vulgaris was at 22 in June 2007. Vanessa Paradis falls four at number nine with Love Songs (6,980 sales / -36%), the album has sold 94,724 copies in its four weeks in the top 10. Bruno Mars is back up one place at ten with Unorthodox Jukebox which spends its 18th week in the top 10 (6,767 sales / +31%).

Five albums drop out of the top 10 this week. A former number one, Emmanuel Moire‘s Le Chemin falls six at number 13 after five weeks inside the ten best-sellers. In its third week on the chart, the compilation NRJ By Cauet moves down five places at 14. The album Thérèse / Vivre D’Amour is also down five at number 15, it reached number two and spent six weeks in the top 10. Quelques Mots D’Amour falls ten places at 16 for Frank Michael in its seventh week on the chart. After two weeks inside the top 10, The Conversation is down nine at number 17 for Texas.

The French rapper Lacrim gets his highest charting album with Né Pour Mourir which is new at number 12, Faites Entrer Lacrim peaked at 16 in May 2012. In their 11th week in the top 250, Vigon Bamy Jay move back up 17 places at 23 with Les Soul Men (2,600 sales), the album reached number seven in April.

Megadeth enters at 43 with Super Collider, it’s a bit better than the band’s last album Th1rt3en which was number 49 in November 2011. All The Little Lights climbs a massive 86 places at 46 for Passenger in its seventh week on the chart.

Equipe De Nuit debuts at number 47 for L’Institut. Miles Kane enters at 55 with Don’t Forget Who You Are, his Colour Of The Trap peaked at number 38 in May 2011.

The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here is new at 67 for Alice In Chains, it’s lower than Black Gives Way To Blue which was number 46 in October 2009. This week’s number one album in the U.K., Disclosure debuts at 89 with Settle. Sing To The Moon is also new at number 93 for Laura Mvula.

Week Ending 2nd June 2013 / Albums Chart

There is no surprise this week as Daft Punk spend a second consecutive week at the top of the French albums chart with Random Access Memories (49,609 sales / -75%), the album has sold 244,622 copies so far. Maître Gims stays at two with Subliminal (27,140 sales / -59%) which has sold 93,570 copies in two weeks.

It’s a very good week for Les Stentors, Une Histoire De France is up two at number three in its second week on the chart (17,344 sales / -35%). It’s down one place at four for Zaz, her Recto Verso has sold around 101,800 copies so far (17,320 sales this week / -54%). Vanessa Paradis slips one at number five with Love Songs (10,964 sales / -61%), the album has sold 87,744 copies in three weeks.

Frank Michael‘s Quelques Mots D’Amour gets its peak position this week as it climbs one place at six in its sixth week inside the ten best-sellers. Can it be his first top five album ? Place your bets. Les Couleurs De Ma Vie also reached number six in November 2006. In his fifth week in the top 10, Emmanuel Moire is back up one place at seven with Le Chemin.

The Conversation moves up one at number eight for Texas in its second week on the chart (5,407 sales / -40%), their last album Red Book peaked at nine in November 2005. The compilation NRJ By Cauet climbs eight places at nine in its second week in the top 250 (5,300 sales). In its sixth week inside the top 10, the album Thérèse / Vivre D’Amour falls four at number ten (5,200 sales / -50%).

One album drops out of the top 10 this week. After 17 weeks in the top 10 (so far), Bruno Mars slips one place at eleven with Unorthodox Jukebox, the album reached number five in March and May (5,150 sales / -41%).

In its seventh week on the chart, Together Alone is back up 15 places at number twelve for Alex Hepburn. Chico & The Gypsies climb six places at 14 with Fiesta in their fourth week inside the top 250, the album reached number eleven two weeks ago.

P!nk‘s The Truth About Love moves up eight at number 17 in its 37th week on the chart. It’s a good week for the musical Robin Des Bois as it climbs nine places at 19, the album reached number three in April. In its 65th week in the top 250, L’Apogée is back up eleven at number 20 for Sexion D’Assaut. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis climb twenty places at 22 with The Heist which spends its 20th week on the chart, it peaked at number 19 in March.

This week’s highest new entry is only at number 27 with CocoRosie‘s Tales Of A Grasswidow, it’s their third top 30 album after The Adventures Of Ghosthorse And Stillborn (number 21 in April 2007) and Grey Oceans (number 24 in May 2010). Rodriguez gets his first top 30 album as Searching For Sugar Man is up a massive 27 places at 28 in its 27th week on the chart.

The compilation Les Anges De La Télé-Réalité : La Compilation debuts at number 29. Joke is new at number 49 with his EP Tokyo.

Incredible first week on the albums chart for Daft Punk‘s Random Access Memories, the album debuts at the top with 195,013 copies sold ! No album has sold that many since the week ending 12th November 2005 when Johnny Hallyday sold 208,771 CDs of Ma Vérité. We can also notice that the late Grégory Lemarchal had opened with 193,960 CDs sold of his album La Voix D’Un Ange in June 2007 just two months after his death. Random Access Memories sets a new record as it was downloaded 67,535 (!) times, the holder of that record was Booba with Futur in December 2012 with “only” 15,504 downloads. With the new album, Daft Punk get a first chart-topper and a fifth top three album, Discovery (in March 2001) and Alive 2007 (in November 2007) both reached number two, and Homework (in January 1997) and Human After All (in March 2005) peaked at three.

Subliminal is new at number two for Maître Gims with 66,430 sales. As a member of Sexion D’Assaut, he reached the top of the albums chart with L’Apogée which opened with 65,949 copies sold in March 2012, the album stayed in the top 10 for 36 weeks. On Subliminal, you can find the hits “J’Me Tire” (number one on the singles chart for four weeks in March and April) and “Bella” which was at four last week.

It’s a rather good second week in the top 10 for Zaz as her album Recto Verso only slips one place at three (37,779 sales / -15%), it has sold around 84,500 copies so far. Last week’s number one, Vanessa Paradis is down to four with Love Songs (27,927 sales / -43%), the album has sold 76,780 copies in two weeks.

Une Histoire De France debuts at five for Les Stentors with 26,539 sales. They took advantage of the fact it was Mothers Day in France on 26th May. Their Voyage En France spent three weeks at number one in May and June 2012, the album had opened with 31,773 copies sold.

In its fifth week in the top 10, the album Thérèse / Vivre D’Amour slips two places at six (10,400 sales / +38%). With Mothers Day, Frank Michael is back up three at number seven with Quelques Mots D’Amour in his fifth week inside the ten best-sellers (9,600 sales). It’s down three places at eight for Emmanuel Moire‘s Le Chemin in its fourth week in the top 10 (9,200 sales / +28%).

The Conversation is new at nine for Texas (8,944 sales), their last album Red Book also opened (and peaked) at number nine in November 2005. In his 17th week in the top 10, Bruno Mars falls four places at ten with Unorthodox Jukebox (8,692 sales / +30%).

Four albums drop out of the top 10 this week. After four weeks inside the top 10, Maxime Le Forestier slips two at number eleven with Le Cadeau. Arts Martiens moves down five places at 12 for IAM, the album was at the top of the albums chart four weeks ago. It’s down eleven at number 19 for Hugh Laurie with Didn’t It Rain, the album has only spent three weeks in the top 10 so far, his Let Them Talk was in the ten best-sellers for eight weeks from April to June 2011. In his second week on the chart, Kery James is down a massive 20 places at number 23 with Dernier MC (4,300 sales / -67%).

As the album was only available digitally, it’s a very good week for Fauve, their Blizzard debuts at number 13 with 6,200 sales. Now that you can find a DVD of her concert at Paris-Bercy in a new version of her album Caméléon, Shy’m is back up 87 places at number 14 in her 48th week on the chart (5,664 sales).

Love Lust Faith + Dreams opens at number 16 for Thirty Seconds To Mars (5,600 sales), their last album This Is War only peaked at 96 in December 2009, and A Beautiful Lie reached number 87 in February 2007. The compilation NRJ By Cauet debuts at number 17.

Week Ending 19th May 2013 / Albums Chart

Vanessa Paradis or Zaz ? Zaz or Vanessa Paradis ? And the winner is… Vanessa Paradis ! Her Love Songs debuts at the top with 48,853 sales, it’s her third number one album in the 2000s, after Bliss (for one week in October 2000), and Divinidylle (for two weeks in September 2007). Divinidylle had opened with 65,027 CDs sold. As the album was available physically, Recto Verso climbs 33 places at number two for Zaz in its second week on the chart (44,469 sales). We can think it’s a bit disappointing for her as her eponymous debut album spent nine consecutive weeks at number one from June to August 2010, this week it climbs 27 places at 41 in its 154th week on the chart. If Recto Verso sold more CDs than Love Songs (around 41,200 vs 39,200), the latter is at the top on the downloads whereas Zaz is only at three (around 9,700 for Vanessa Paradis vs 3,300 for Zaz).

French rapper Kery James is new at three with Dernier MC (13,194 sales), his Réel was at the top of the albums chart for one week in May 2009. In its fourth week in the top 10, the album Thérèse / Vivre D’Amour slips one place at four (7,563 sales / -15%). It’s down three at number five for Emmanuel Moire with Le Chemin (7,182 sales / -23%), the album has sold 34,448 copies in three weeks.

Unorthodox Jukebox slips one place at six for Bruno Mars in its 16th week inside the ten best-sellers (6,707 sales / +2%). IAM‘s Arts Martiens is also down one at number seven in its fourth week in the top 10 (5,900 sales / -4%). Hugh Laurie falls four places at eight with Didn’t it Rain in his third week in the top 10.

In his fourth week inside the top 10, Maxime Le Forestier is back up one at nine with Le Cadeau. Frank Michael moves down three at number ten with Quelques Mots D’Amour in his fourth week in the top 10.

Three albums drop out of the top 10 this week. After three weeks inside the ten best-sellers, Alex Hepburn is down three places at twelve with Together Alone, the album reached number three. In its fourth week on the chart, the compilation NRJ Spring Hits 2013 falls five places at number 13. Last week’s number one, Seth Gueko‘s Bad Cowboy is down to number 25 (!) in its second week on the chart (3,200 sales / -70%), it’s not that surprising as the album debuted with rather low sales figures for a chart-topper (10,659 sales) and rap albums have often a difficult second week. It’s the biggest fall ever for a number one album, beating the 1-15 by L.I.M.‘s “Délinquant” in November 2007, and Booba‘s “Lunatic” in December 2010. They are both rap albums.

It’s up a massive 133 places at number eleven for Chico & The Gypsies with Fiesta in their second week in the top 250 (4,800 sales), can it be their second top 10 album after Chico & The Gypsies … & Friends which peaked at seven in August 2012 ? Stay tuned. The soundtrack from The Great Gatsby is also a big climber as it moves up 55 at number 14 in its second week on the chart (3,900 sales / +225%).

There is a new entry at number 18 for Vampire Weekend with Modern Vampires Of The City, it’s a bit lower than Contra which reached number 15 in January 2010. In her seventh week inside the top 250, Carla Bruni is back up nine places at 20 with Little French Songs, the album spent two weeks at number two.

Les Appareuses Trompences debuts at number 31 for Boulevard Des Airs, it’s their second top 40 album as Paris-Buenos Aires peaked at 24 in October 2011. Kassav’ is new at 32 with Sonjé, its last studio album All U Need Is Zouk only reached number 58 in December 2007, but we can notice that the compilation Le Meilleur De Kassav’ was number 20 in July 2012.

ABBA legend Agnetha Faltskog enters at number 85 with A (1,015 sales), it’s her first charting solo album in France.

Week Ending 12th May 2013 / Albums Chart

French rapper Seth Gueko‘s new album Bad Cowboy enters at the top of the albums chart (10,659 sales), it’s even Nicolas Salvadori’s (his real name) first top 10 album as his last LP Michto peaked at number eleven in April 2011. Last week’s number one, Le Chemin is down to two for Emmanuel Moire (9,301 sales / -48%), the album has sold 27,266 copies in two weeks.

It’s also down one place at three for Thérèse / Vivre D’Amour in its third week in the top 10 (8,941 sales / -16%). Hugh Laurie slips one at number four with Didn’t It Rain in his second week on the chart (6,816 sales / -31%), the album has sold 16,701 copies so far.

In his 15th week inside the ten best-sellers, Bruno Mars is up one place at five with Unorthodox Jukebox (6,593 sales / -4%). IAM‘s Arts Martiens falls two at number six (6,129 sales / -26%), 39,036 copies of the album have been sold in three weeks.

There is no change at seven for Frank Michael with Quelques Mots D’Amour in his third week in the top 10 (6,025 sales / -9%). The compilation NRJ Spring Hits 2013 stays at number eight in its third week inside the ten best-sellers (5,700 sales).

Alex Hepburn spends a third week in the top 10 as her Together Alone is back up four places at nine (5,000 sales / -3%). In its third week on the chart, Maxime Le Forestier‘s Le Cadeau is down five at ten (4,672 sales / -33%).

Two albums drop out of the top 10 this week. After eight weeks in the top 10, Les Enfoirés fall four places at 14 with La Boîte A Musique Des Enfoirés, the album was at the top of the albums chart for five consecutive weeks in March and April. Héros is down seven at number 16 for the Musique De La Légion Etrangère in its third week on the chart.

In its 62nd week in the top 250, L’Apogée climbs seven places at eleven for Sexion D’Assaut (4,500 sales / +6%). Justice is new at twelve with Access All Arenas (4,400 sales), the album Audio, Video, Disco reached number five in October 2011. The compilation Le Son Dancefloor 2013 Vol. 2 debuts at number 13. In his third week on the chart, will.i.am falls six places at 17 with #willpower.

Valerie June gets her first charting album in France as her Pushin’ Against A Stone enters at number 23. It’s down eleven places at 27 for Lara Fabian‘s Le Secret in its fourth week on the chart (2,901 sales / -36%).

As the album was only released digitally (it’s number two in the downloads, the physical release was on Monday 13th), Recto Verso debuts at 35 for Zaz (2,300 sales), her eponymous debut album was number one for nine consecutive weeks from June to August 2010.

Iggy & The Stooges enter at number 36 with Ready To Die, Iggy Pop‘s last album Après peaked at five in May 2012.
