Week Ending 15th December 2013 / Albums Chart

As he won two trophies at the 2013 NRJ Music Awards last Saturday, it’s not surprising to see Stromae‘s Racine Carrée at the top of the French albums chart for a 15th non-consecutive week (109,085 sales / +36%). In its 17 weeks on the chart, the album has sold 831,363 copies and is, of course, the best-selling LP in 2013.

Mylène Farmer gets this week’s highest new entry with a new live album Timeless 2013 at number two (71,734 sales). Her last live LP N°5 On Tour was Number One for one week in December 2009 and spent four weeks inside the top 10. The album We Love Disney slips one place at three in its second week on the chart (61,432 sales / +22%), the album has sold 111,912 copies so far. In its second week inside the ten best-sellers, the compilation NRJ Music Awards – 15th Edition stays at number four (46,800 sales / +28%).

There is no change at five for Florent Pagny‘s Vieillir Avec Toi (41,896 sales / +19%), 189,632 copies of the LP have been sold in its six weeks in the top 10. Maître Gims doesn’t move at number six with Subliminal to spend a 19th week inside the ten best-sellers (40,700 sales / +31%). In his second week on the chart, Pascal Obispo falls four places at seven with Le Grand Amour (28,750 sales / -31%), the album has sold 70,549 copies so far.

The album Forever Gentlemen moves back up one at number eight in its eighth week in the top 10 (28,700 sales). In her seventh week inside the ten best-sellers, Tal slips one place at nine with A L’Infini (28,300 sales / +25%). Recto Verso climbs three at number ten for Zaz in its 32nd week on the chart (27,400 sales).

Two albums drop out of the top 10 this week. Last week’s new entry at number seven, Live At Rome Olympic Stadium is down to 14 for Muse (21,100 sales / -30%). After two weeks inside the top 10, One Direction‘s Midnight Memories moves down six places at 16 (19,800 sales / -2%).

In his 53rd week in the top 250, Bruno Mars is back up six at number eleven with Unorthodox Jukebox, the album peaked at four in August. Beyoncé‘s new digital eponymous album is new at number 24 with 12,131 downloads sold in just three days. In its first week, her last album 4 debuted and peaked at number two in July 2011 with 12,393 sales (physical + downloads).

James Blunt‘s Moon Landing moves back up five places at 27 in its eighth week on the chart, it reached number five in November. Ange Ou Démon climbs 19 at number 44 for Keen’V in its 20th week inside the 250 best-sellers. It’s a bad week for Britney Spears, her new LP Britney Jean already falls a massive 34 places at 56 (4,419 sales / -65%), the album has sold 17,008 copies in its two weeks on the chart.

Week Ending 8th December 2013 / Albums Chart

Christmas is coming soon, and we can notice that in the great sales figures on this week’s albums chart. The biggest-selling album of 2013 stays at the top for a 14th non-consecutive week, Stromae‘s Racine Carrée sold another 79,996 copies last week (+77%). In its 16 weeks on the chart, the album has sold 722,278 copies.

We Love Disney is new at number two with 50,480 copies sold. In this LP, you can find 17 famous Disney songs sung in French by artists such as Jenifer, Emmanuel Moire, Garou, Elodie Frégé, and Zaho among others.

Le Grand Amour debuts at three for Pascal Obispo (41,799 sales). It’s his 9th top three album, he got four Number Ones, with Live 98 (for one week in May 1998), Studio Fan / Live Fan (for one week in March 2004), Les Fleurs Du Bien (for two weeks in May 2006), with a best-of album called Millésimes (for one week in January 2013). The compilation NRJ Music Awards – 15th Edition is new at four (36,600 sales).

It’s down one place at number five for Florent Pagny with Vieillir Avec Toi in his fifth week inside the top 10 (35,266 sales / +61%), the album has sold 147,736 copies so far. Subliminal‘s new edition (called La Face Cachée) climbs 14 places at six for Maître Gims in its 29th week on the chart (31,007 sales), the original version of the album peaked at two in June.

Live At Rome Olympic Stadium is new at number seven for Muse (30,298 sales). It’s the band’s eighth top 10 album, they reached the top with Absolution (for one week in September 2003), The Resistance (for one week in September 2009), and The 2nd Law (for three weeks in October 2012).

In her 14th week on the chart, Tal is back up eleven places at eight with A L’Infini (22,700 sales), the LP reached number three in September. The album Forever Gentlemen slips one at number nine in its seventh week inside the ten best-sellers. One Direction‘s Midnight Memories falls eight places at ten in its second week in the top 10 (20,300 sales / -53%).

Six albums drop out of the top 10 this week. After four weeks inside the top 10, Céline Dion moves down four places at eleven with Loved Me Back To Life (20,160 sales / +20%). Garou‘s Au Milieu De Ma Vie falls five at number 15 in its third week on the chart. Last week’s new entry at number five, Bernard Lavilliers is down to 18 with Baron Samedi (16,000 sales / -13%). Horizons falls ten places at 19 for Détroit in its third week inside the 250 best-sellers. Johnny Hallyday‘s Born Rocker Tour moves down 20 places at number 23 in its second week on the chart. In his 47th week in the top 250, Booba is down a massive 35 places at 41 with Futur 2.0 (5,300 sales / -70%).

In her 31st week on the chart, Zaz moves back up three at number 13 with Recto Verso. Violetta – Hoy Somos Más climbs 19 places at 20 in its tenth week inside the top 250.

Britney Jean debuts at number 22 with 12,589 sales for Britney Spears, her last album Femme Fatale entered and peaked at number four in April 2011 with 15,323 copies sold. She was Number One with Oops !… I Did It Again (for two weeks in May 2000), and In The Zone (for one week in November 2003).

Agnes Obel‘s Aventine is up ten places at 34 in its tenth week on the chart, the album entered and peaked at number two in October. In his 54th week inside the 250 best-sellers, Patrick Bruel climbs 31 places at 38 with Lequel De Nous. Random Access Memories moves up 21 at number 39 for Daft Punk in its 29th week in the top 250, the LP was at the top for three consecutive weeks in June.
