It’s another rather static week (apart from the number 10 position) in the top 10 of the French singles chart.
Carly Rae Jepsen spends a fourth non-consecutive week at the top with “Call Me Maybe” but her sales figures are very weak (8536, -9%). In fact, we have to come back from the week ending 21st August 2011 to see a “weaker” number one, 8467 sales for Rihanna‘s “Man Down”. In their ninth and final week at the top (the week ending 27th May 2012), Gotye and Kimbra only sold 17 more sales (8553) than Carly Rae Jepsen last week.
Shy’m registers her second number 2 in the French singles chart with “Et Alors !” which is up two places in its third week in the top 10 (7583 sales, -3%). That song equals the chart performance of “Si Tu Savais” which was number two in January 2009.
Tacabro is still in the top 3 for a six non-consecutive week with “Tacatà”, the former number one is down one place at number 3 (6912 sales, -20%). Pitbull‘s “Back In Time” is back up two places at 4 but with decreasing sales (6349, -8%) in its 7th week in the top 10. Birdy is still at 5 with “Skinny Love” in her 10th week in the top 10 (6239 sales, -11%). You can notice that the sales figures of the top 5 are very weak. When last week’s top 5 had sold 41194 copies, this week the top 5 only sold 35619 copies (-14%) !
A former number two 2 weeks ago, “Whistle” by Flo Rida is down three places at 6 in its 8th week in the top 10 (5973 sales, -28% !). “Rayos De Sol” reaches its peak position for Jose De Rico (featuring Henry Mendez), up one place at number 7 in its fourth week in the top 10. Gusttavo Lima is down a place with “Balada” at 8 in his 11th week in the top 10. Gotye is still climbing back the chart ! With Kimbra, he is up one place at number 9 with “Somebody That I Used To Know” in his 20th week in the top 10.
So, the big climber of the week is fun. (featuring Janelle Monáe) with “We Are Young”, up a massive 12 places to reach the top 10 (at 10) for the first time. They sang it in a very popular TV show “Le Grand Journal” on Canal + last week.
will.i.am has a very good week too, his “This Is Love” (featuring Eva Simons) is up 13 places at number 16 in its third week in the top 50 (3548 sales, +47%). Will it be in the top 10 next week ? Place your bets. A former number two in the UK, Chris Brown‘s “Don’t Wake Me Up” climbs the chart, up 16 places at number 34 in its 5th week in the top 200.
But it’s a very disappointing second week in the chart for Céline Dion, her new song “Parler A Mon Père” is down a massive 43 places at number 75 !
We can notice the new entries at number 107 of “Good Time” by Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen, and of… Gala‘s new song “Lose Yourself In Me” at number 158. Gala had 2 number ones in France, “Freed From Desire” was at the top for 13 weeks in 1996, and “Let A Boy Cry” for 2 weeks in 1997.
