Week Ending 26th January 2014 / Singles Chart

Pharrell Williams spends an eighth non-consecutive week at the top of the French singles chart with “Happy”, it’s the first song to have an eight-week reign since… Daft Punk‘s “Get Lucky” in which he is featured. “Get Lucky” was Number One from April to July 2013. “Happy” sold more than 20,000 copies last week (20,400 sales / +12%), and it’s the first song to do that in a week since… Robin Thicke‘s “Blurred Lines” in which he is also featured (with T.I.) during the week ending 9th June 2013. The last three songs to have sold more than 20,000 copies in a week are “Get Lucky”, “Blurred Lines”, and “Happy”… Incredible.

There is no change at two for Indila with her “Dernière Danse” in her fifth week inside the top 10 (8,800 sales / +8%). We have a static top three, as Maître Gims‘ “Zombie” spends a third consecutive week (and sixth overall) at number three in its eighth week inside the ten best-sellers (5,600 sales / -7%).

In its eighth week in the top 10, “Photomaton” moves up three places at four for Jabberwocky featuring Elodie Wildstars (4,500 sales / +18%). You can notice that this song’s chart run is quite strange, 18-2-5-16-5-2-6-12-13-9-7-4 in its last 12 weeks. As an aspiring artist from “The Voice” sang it last Saturday, Lorde‘s “Royals” finally reaches the top five in its 20th week on the chart, it climbs eleven at number five (4,200 sales / +62%).

Lily Allen is up four places at six with “Somewhere Only We Know” in her second week inside the top 10 (3,700 sales / +3%). Avicii slips two at number seven with “Hey Brother” in his 12th week inside the ten best-sellers (3,700 sales / -10%). Stromae‘s “Tous Les Mêmes” falls four places at eight in its 11th week in the top 10 (3,600 sales / -22%).

In its fifth week inside the top 10, “Timber” is a non-mover at number nine for Pitbull featuring Ke$ha (3,600 sales / -3%). In its 27th week on the chart, “Counting Stars” gives OneRepublic their second top 10 hit, as the song climbs five places at ten (3,400 sales). “Apologize” reached number seven in February 2008 for Timbaland Presents OneRepublic.

Two songs drop out of the top 10 this week. After 24 consecutive weeks (and 27 in total) inside the ten best-sellers, “Formidable” falls five at number 13 for Stromae. The song was at the top for six weeks in September and October. Last week’s highest new entry at six, “Can’t Remember To Forget You” is down to number 26 for Shakira featuring Rihanna (1,700 sales / -57%).

Cats On Trees get closer to their first top 10 hit, as “Sirens Call” is up three places at eleven in its 28th week inside the top 200 (3,300 sales). It was sung on the TV show “Nouvelle Star” recently, so “Instant Crush” climbs ten at number twelve for Daft Punk featuring Julian Casablancas in its 26th week on the chart (2,900 sales / +45%). It’s Daft Punk‘s seventh top 20 hit, and the first for Julian Casablancas. The Strokes (Casablancas is the singer) peaked at 75 in February 2011 with “Under Cover Of Darkness”.

In his 16th week inside the 200 best-selling songs, Maître Gims jumps from 20 to number 16 with “Changer”, it reached number nine in December. “Do What U Want” moves back up ten places at 22 for Lady Gaga featuring R. Kelly in its 14th week in the top 200. Avicii‘s “Addicted To You” climbs a massive 42 places at 24 in its fifth week on the chart (1,700 sales). Will it be his third top 10 hit, after “Wake Me Up !” and “Hey Brother” ?

Klingande‘s “Jubel” is up twelve at number 27 in its 39th week in the top 200. Martin Garrix moves back up eight places at 28 with “Animals” in his 28th week on the chart, it was number two in September and October. “Ordinary Love” gives U2 their 17th top 30 hit, as it jumps from 34 to number 30 in its eighth week inside the 200 best-sellers. U2 have never had a top five hit, peaking at six with “The Fly” in November 1991, and “Get On Your Boots” in February 2009.

Tom Odell gets his first top 40 hit with “Another Love” which is up 26 places at 38 in its 27th week on the chart (1,300 sales). “Petite Emilie” gives Keen’V his eighth, as the song climbs 16 at number 39 in its eighth week in the top 200. Kyo enter with two new songs, “Le Graal” at 42 (1,266 sales), and “L’Equilibre” at number 44 (1,200 sales). Kyo got two top 10 hits, with “Dernière Danse” (number six in May 2003), and “Contact” (number eight in January 2005).

Week Ending 26th January 2014 / Albums Chart

Stromae spends another week at the top of the French albums chart with Racine Carrée (27,971 sales / -16%), but it’s not an ordinary one as the LP has just equalled the 21-week reign of Adele‘s 21 ! 21 spent its first week at Number One in June 2011, and its last in March 2012, whereas Racine Carrée is in its 23rd week on the chart only ! In its second week, the album was beaten by Génération Goldman Volume 2, and it was number four behind Florent Pagny‘s Vieillir Avec Toi, Eminem‘s The Marshall Mathers LP 2, and Céline Dion‘s Loved Me Back To Life during the week ending 10th November 2013. Racine Carrée has sold 1,301,448 copies so far.

Maître Gims‘ Subliminal is back up one place to spend a sixth week at two in its 25th week inside the top 10 (12,000 sales / -6%). Florent Pagny also climbs one at number three with Vieillir Avec Toi in his 12th week inside the ten best-sellers (10,500 sales / +56%), it’s his first LP to spend that many weeks in the top 10 since the album Abracadabra which was there for 15 weeks from April to August 2006.

The live LP Violetta En Vivo climbs five places at four in its second week on the chart (6,000 sales / +18%). Bruce Springsteen is down three at number five with High Hopes in his second week inside the top 10 (6,000 sales / -72%). The compilation NRJ Winter Hits 2014 slips one place at six in its second week inside the ten best-sellers.

In its eighth week on the chart, the Frozen soundtrack (La Reine Des Neiges) moves up a massive 13 places at seven (5,600 sales / +75%). There is no change at number eight for Stromae‘s Cheese in its fifth week in the top 10, so the album has spent more weeks there in 2014 (three) than in 2010 when it was released (two) !

Vincent Niclo moves back up eight places at nine with Luis to spend a sixth week inside the ten best-sellers (5,000 sales). The compilation NRJ Music Awards – 15th Edition falls four at number ten in its eighth week in the top 10 (4,800 sales / -25%).

Two albums drop out of the top 10 this week. A L’Infini is down four places at eleven for Tal in its 21st week inside the top 250, the LP was number three in September 2013. The compilation NRJ Hits 2014 also falls four at number 14 in its fifth week on the chart.

Bernard Lavilliers jumps from 35 to number 16 with Baron Samedi in his ninth week inside the 250 best-sellers (3,400 sales), the album debuted and peaked at five in December. In his eighth week on the chart, Pascal Obispo is back up five places at 17 with Le Grand Amour, it reached number three in December.

Grammy Awards’ big winners Daft Punk climb eight at number 21 with Random Access Memories in their 36th week in the top 250. It’s a good week for former Number Ones, as Emmanuel Moire moves up nine places at 23 with Le Chemin in his 39th week on the chart (2,400 sales), and Luc Arbogast‘s Odysseus jumps from 59 to number 24 in its 25th week inside the top 250 (2,300 sales).

Mogwai get their first top 40 album, as Rave Tapes is new at 37. They reached the top 50 with Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will, peaking at number 46 in February 2011. We’re New Here enters at 38 for Gil Scott-Heron and Jamie xx, it’s their first top 40 LP. Alpha Wann debuts at number 48 with Alph Lauren, he is a member of the French rap group 1995. They got two top 10 albums, La Suite (number eight in March 2012), and Paris Sud Minute (number four in January 2013). Native re-enters at 52 for OneRepublic, it’s their highest charting LP, Waking Up reached number 58 in May 2010.

Week Ending 19th January 2014 / Singles Chart

Pharrell Williams‘ “Happy” is still by far the best-selling song in France, as it stays at Number One for a seventh non-consecutive week in its ninth week inside the top 10 (18,156 sales / +25%). There is no change also at number two for Indila‘s “Dernière Danse” which spends its fourth week inside the ten best-sellers (8,161 sales / +26%).

“Zombie” is a non-mover at three for Maître Gims in its seventh week in the top 10 (6,000 sales / +7%). It’s a static top four, as Stromae stays at number four with “Tous Les Mêmes” in his tenth week inside the ten best-selling songs (4,600 sales / -10%). Avicii is back up one place at five with “Hey Brother” in his 11th week inside the top 10 (4,100 sales).

This week’s highest new entry is for Shakira featuring Rihanna with “Can’t Remember To Forget You” at number six (3,925 sales). The song is the 11th top 10 hit for Shakira, and Rihanna‘s 17th. Rihanna reached the top with “Don’t Stop The Music” (for two weeks in October and November 2007), “Man Down” (for five weeks in July and August 2011), “We Found Love” (featuring Calvin Harris, for five weeks in October and November 2011), “Diamonds” (for three weeks in September and October 2012), and “The Monster” (as a featured artist with Eminem, for three weeks in November 2013). Shakira also topped the French singles chart with five songs, with “Whenever Wherever” (for four weeks in March and April 2002), “Hips Don’t Lie” (featuring Wyclef Jean, for one week in May 2006), “Beautiful Liar” (with Beyoncé, for two weeks in April and May 2007), “Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)” (featuring Freshlyground, for six weeks in July and August 2010), and “Je L’Aime A Mourir” (for seven weeks in December 2011 and January 2012).

In its seventh week inside the top 10, “Photomaton” climbs two places at seven for Jabberwocky featuring Elodie Wildstars (3,800 sales / +12%). It’s down three at number eight for Stromae‘s “Formidable” in its 27th week inside the best-sellers (3,800 sales / -17%). “Timber” slips one place at nine for Pitbull featuring Ke$ha in its fourth week in the top 10 (3,700 sales / =). “Somewhere Only We Know” is Lily Allen‘s first top 10 hit in France, as the song moves up two at number ten in its eighth week on the chart (3,600 sales / +13%).

Two songs drop out of the top 10 this week. After 23 non-consecutive weeks inside the best-sellers, “Papaoutai” finally slips two places at twelve for Stromae, the song spent four weeks at the top in July and August. Lorde falls nine at number 16 with “Royals” in her 19th week in the top 200 (2,600 sales).

“Talk Dirty” is up 14 places at 13 for Jason Derulo featuring 2 Chainz in its 18th week on the chart, it peaked at number three in November (2,700 sales). In their 27th week inside the 200 best-selling songs, Cats On Trees climb three at number 14 with “Sirens Call”. Ahzee‘s “Born Again” moves up one place at 19 in its tenth week on the chart.

In its 25th week in the top 200, “Instant Crush” climbs 19 at number 22 for Daft Punk featuring Julian Casablancas (2,000 sales). MIKA‘s “Underwater” is up five places at 23 in its 45th week on the chart. “Team BS” gets its highest-charting position, as it moves up 14 at number 24 for Team BS (Fababy, La Fouine, Sultan & Sindy) in its 11th week inside the 200 best-selling songs. Their “Case Départ” enters at 33.

John Newman‘s “Love Me Again” is back up eight places at 26 in its 28th week inside the top 200, the song reached number seven in September and October. Martin Garrix & Jay Hardway climb six at number 31 with “Wizard” in their fifth week on the chart. “Ordinary Love” jumps from 40 to number 34 for U2 in its seventh week inside the 200 best-sellers, it peaked at 31 in December.

“The Woodland Realm” is new at number 35 for Howard Shore, it’s taken from the soundtrack of the movie The Hobbit – The Desolation Of Smaug. In its 38th week on the chart, “Jubel” climbs eleven places at 39 for Klingande. Lea Michele debuts at number 46 with “Louder”, the song is her second solo top 50 hit, “Cannonball” peaked at 48 in December.

The great story goes on… It’s a 20th non-consecutive week at the top of the French albums chart for Stromae who stays at Number One with Racine Carrée in his 22nd week inside the top 10 (33,129 sales / -12%), the album has sold 1,273,477 copies so far.

High Hopes is this week’s highest new entry at number two for Bruce Springsteen with 21,102 copies sold. Incredible : The Boss has never reached the top of the French albums chart ! Born In The U.S.A. (in July 1985) and Working On A Dream (in January 2009) also peaked at number two. His last LP Wrecking Ball was number three in March 2012, opening with 22,510 sales.

In his 24th week inside the ten best-sellers, Maître Gims slips one place at three with Subliminal (12,700 sales / -6%). Vieillir Avec Toi is up two at number four for Florent Pagny in its 11th week in the top 10 (6,741 sales / -6%). The compilation NRJ Winter Hits 2014 debuts at five with 6,600 copies sold. Another one, NRJ Music Awards – 15th Edition falls three places at number six in its seventh week inside the top 10 (6,400 sales / -31%).

Tal‘s A L’Infini moves down three places at seven in its 12th week inside the ten best-sellers (6,000 sales / -20%). Stromae stays at number eight with his debut LP Cheese in his fourth week in the top 10 (5,200 sales / -9%).

The live album Violetta En Vivo is new at nine (5,100 sales), L’Album De La Saison 1 reached number 15 in July 2013 (it moves back up 78 places at 43 this week), and Hoy Somos Más peaked at 14 in October 2013 (it climbs eleven places at 18). “Violetta” is an Argentinian TV series. The compilation NRJ Hits 2014 is down three places at ten in its third week inside the top 10.

Three albums drop out of the top 10 this week. After twelve consecutive weeks inside the ten best-sellers, the album Forever Gentlemen moves down seven at number twelve (4,542 sales / -39%). The album We Love Disney also falls seven places at 15 in its seventh week on the chart (3,900 sales / -32%), it peaked at two in December. Luis is down seven at number 17 for Vincent Niclo in its 17th week inside the top 250, the LP reached number three in October.

The Shin Sekaï, Volume 2 enters at eleven for The Shin Sekaï (4,600 sales), the Volume 1 was number 35 in February 2013. The compilation Fun Dance 2014 opens at number 13. The La Reine Des Neiges soundtrack (Frozen) climbs seven places at 20 in its seventh week on the chart (3,200 sales / +14%).

In its 18th week in the top 250, Les Roses De Mon Silence is up 37 places at 28 for Grégoire, the album debuted and peaked at number two in September. As you can find the LP at mid-price, Sans Attendre climbs a massive 53 places at number 48 for Céline Dion in its 63rd week on the chart.

This week Pharrell Williams‘ “Happy” has equalled the six-week reign of Robin Thicke‘s “Blurred Lines” in which he’s a featured artist, as the former song stays at the top of the French singles chart in its eighth week inside the top 10 (14,500 sales / =). But Pharrell Williams has to keep an eye on Indila whose “Dernière Danse” climbs another four places at number two in its third week inside the ten best-sellers (6,500 sales / +25%).

In its sixth week in the top 10, “Zombie” is back up five places at three for Maître Gims, he had already spent three consecutive weeks in that position in December (5,600 sales / +10%). So there is no songs from Stromae inside the top three anymore, as “Tous Les Mêmes” slips two at number four in its ninth week inside the top 10 (5,100 sales / -29%), and “Formidable” also moves down two places at five in its 26th week inside the ten best-selling songs (4,600 sales / -27%). But he still owns three songs in the top 10, indeed “Papaoutai” falls five at number ten (3,400 sales / -38%).

Avicii‘s “Hey Brother” is down two places at six in its tenth week in the top 10. Lorde spends an amazing sixth non-consecutive week at number seven with “Royals” in her eighth week inside the ten best-sellers. “Timber” equals its peak position this week, as it moves up one place at eight for Pitbull featuring Ke$ha in its third week inside the top 10 (3,700 sales / -23%). After a two-week absence, “Photomaton” spends a sixth week in the top 10 as it climbs four at number nine for Jabberwocky featuring Elodie Wildstars (3,400 sales).

One song drops out of the top 10 this week. After 23 weeks inside the ten best-selling songs, “Get Lucky” falls 13 places at 23 for Daft Punk featuring Pharrell Williams (2,000 sales / -56%). The song spent eight non-consecutive weeks at the top of the singles chart from April to July, and is the best-seller for 2013.

Lily Allen gets her highest-charting hit in France, as “Somewhere Only We Know” is up 13 places at twelve in its seventh week on the chart (3,200 sales). “Fuck You” reached number 14 in August 2009. It’s a very good week for Maître Gims, his “Changer” moves back up six places at 14 in its 14th week inside the top 200, the song peaked at nine in December.

In its 25th week on the chart, “Counting Stars” climbs 13 at number 15 for OneRepublic (2,600 sales). The song is their third top 20 hit, “Apologize” was number seven in in February 2008 as Timbaland Presents OneRepublic, and their “All The Right Moves” peaked at 19 in June 2010.

“Sirens Call” is up two places at 17 for Cats On Trees in its 26th week inside the 200 best-sellers. In its ninth week on the chart, Ahzee‘s “Born Again” jumps from number 32 to 20. “Drunk In Love” moves back up five at number 25 for Beyoncé featuring Jay Z in its fourth week inside the top 200, the song reached number 23 two weeks ago.

As he is a new judge on the French version of The Voice which started last Saturday, MIKA climbs a massive 133 places at 28 with “Underwater” in his 44th week on the chart, it peaked at number twelve in July 2013 (1,700 sales). In its 16th week in the top 200, “23” moves back up 19 places at 30 for Mike Will Made-It featuring Miley Cyrus, Wiz Khalifa & Juicy J.

One Direction‘s “Story Of My Life” is up ten at number 31 in its 11th week on the chart, the song was at 22 in November. In her ninth week on the chart, Tal climbs four places at 32 with “Le Passé”. “Sonnentanz” moves up nine at number 33 for Klangkarussell featuring Will Heard in its 24th week inside the 200 best-selling songs.

“Wizard” jumps from 68 to number 37 for Martin Garrix & Jay Hardway in its fourth week in the top 200, it debuted and peaked at 31. “Team BS” is up twenty at number 38 for Fababy, La Fouine, Sultan & Sindy in its tenth week on the chart. U2‘s “Ordinary Love” is back inside the top 40, as it climbs 19 places at 40 in its sixth week in the top 200.

Week Ending 12th January 2014 / Albums Chart

As we were still waiting for a new release from a very successful act, it’s not surprising to see Stromae‘s Racine Carrée at the top of the French albums chart for a 19th non-consecutive week. In its 21st week on the chart, the album sold 37,665 copies last week (-28%) for a total of 1,240,348. The most amazing thing about Stromae this week is that his debut LP Cheese equals its peak position, as it moves up eight places at eight in its 97th (!) week inside the top 250 (5,700 sales / -11%). The album spent its first two weeks on the albums chart at number eight in June and July 2010 !

There is no change at two for Maître Gims with Subliminal in his 23rd week inside the ten best-sellers (13,500 sales / -25%). The compilation NRJ Music Awards – 15th Edition stays at number three in its sixth week in the top 10 (9,300 sales / -48%). After a 16-week absence, Tal is back inside the top five, as A L’Infini climbs two places at four in its 11th week inside the top 10, the album peaked at number three in September (7,500 sales / -28%).

In its 12th week inside the top 10, the album Forever Gentlemen slips one at number five (7,500 sales / -42%). Florent Pagny moves back up one place at six with Vieillir Avec Toi to spend a tenth week inside the ten best-sellers (7,200 sales / -26%). The compilation NRJ Hits 2014 falls two at number seven in its second week in the top 10 (7,200 sales / -35%).

It’s down one place at nine for the album We Love Disney in its sixth week inside the top 10 (5,700 sales / -39%). Luis climbs one at number ten for Vincent Niclo to spend a fifth week inside the ten best-sellers, it reached number three in October (5,100 sales).

Two albums drop out of the top 10 this week. Recto Verso falls two places at eleven for Zaz in its 36th week on the chart. Bruno Mars also moves down two at number twelve with Unorthodox Jukebox, the LP has spent 35 weeks inside the top 10 (so far).

In its fifth week on the chart, Beyoncé‘s eponymous album is up two places at 13. The musical Robin Des Bois jumps from 19 to number 15 in its 42nd week inside the 250 best-sellers.

Allons Voir is this week’s highest new entry at 16 for La Rue Kétanou (4,000 sales), it’s their second top 20 LP, A Contre Sens was number twelve in February 2009. Quelques Heures Avec Moi enters at 21 for Yoann Freget with 3,413 sales. Yoann Fréget was the 2013 winner of the French version of The Voice. The 2012 winner, Stéphan Rizon debuted and peaked at number 32 in November 2012 with From Mars With Love.

The Frozen soundtrack called La Reine Des Neiges in France climbs a massive 35 places at 27 in its sixth week in the top 250 (2,800 sales). Zaz‘ eponymous debut album jumps from 44 to number 33 in its 188th week on the chart, it spent nine consecutive weeks at the top from June to August 2010.

If You Wait is up five places at 40 for London Grammar in its 18th week inside the 250 best-sellers, the album debuted and peaked at number eleven in September. Kid Ink enters at 48 with My Own Lane, it’s his first top 50 LP.

“Happy” spends a fifth non-consecutive week at Number One for Pharrell Williams in its seventh week inside the top 10 (14,500 sales). Will the song equal the six-week reign of Robin Thicke‘s “Blurred Lines” in which he’s featured next week ? Stay tuned.

In its eighth week inside the ten best-sellers, Stromae‘s “Tous Les Mêmes” stays at two (7,200 sales). His “Formidable” is also a non-mover at number three in its 25th week in the top 10 (6,300 sales). Avicii is back up two places at four with “Hey Brother” in his ninth week inside the top 10 (5,700 sales).

Stromae has still three songs in the top five, as “Papaoutai” slips one at number five in its 22nd week inside the ten best-sellers (5,500 sales). In this very static top 10, it’s good to see Indila climbing four places at six with “Dernière Danse” (5,200 sales), can the song reach the top of the singles chart soon ?

In its seventh week in the top 10, Lorde‘s “Royals” spends a fifth non-consecutive week at number seven. It’s down three places at eight for Maître Gims with “Zombie” in his fifth week inside the ten best-sellers (5,100 sales).

“Timber” moves up two at number nine for Pitbull featuring Ke$ha to spend a second week inside the top 10 (4,800 sales), the song was at eight three weeks ago. “Get Lucky” climbs three places at ten for Daft Punk featuring Pharrell Williams in its 38th week on the chart (4,500 sales). The song is inside the ten best-sellers for the first time since the chart from the week ending 15th September !

Two songs drop out of the top 10 this week. It’s down seven at number 15 for Eminem featuring Rihanna with “The Monster”. The song was Number One for three consecutive weeks in November and spent seven weeks inside the top 10. Miley Cyrus also falls seven places at 16 with “Wrecking Ball”, she reached number two in December.

A former chart-topper (for two weeks in August and September), Avicii‘s “Wake Me Up !” is up seven places at eleven in its 29th week on the chart. In its sixth week inside the 200 best-sellers, “Flute” climbs three at number twelve for New World Sound & Thomas Newson, the song was at ten two weeks ago.

In its 25th week on the chart, “Paris-Seychelles” moves up five places at 14 for Julien Doré, it peaked at eleven in November. Cats On Trees get their first top 20 hit, as “Sirens Call” climbs eight at number 19 in its 25th week inside the top 200.

“Blurred Lines” is back inside the top 30, indeed the song is up twelve places at 24 for Robin Thicke featuring T.I. and Pharrell in its 41st week on the chart (2,700 sales). Lykke Li‘s “I Follow Rivers” is another song which refuses to die, as it climbs seven at number 33 in its 107th week in the top 200 (2,200 sales).

“Le Passé” moves up 22 places at 36 in its eighth week on the chart to give Tal her 10th top 40 hit (2,000 sales), “Le Sens De La Vie” reached number four in March and April 2012. In its 23rd week inside the 200 best-sellers, Birdy‘s “Wings” climbs nine at number 38, the song was her third top 10 hit, peaking at eight in October. “Alors On Danse” is also up nine places at 39 for Stromae in its 106th week in the top 200 (1,900 sales), it was Number One for ten non-consecutive weeks from March to May 2010.

Week Ending 5th January 2014 / Albums Chart

It’s a new year, but there is no change at the top of the French albums chart, as Racine Carrée spends a 18th non-consecutive week at Number One for Stromae. In its 20th week on the chart, the album has sold more than 50,000 copies for the fifth consecutive week, and the ninth in total (52,472 sales / -62%).

In its 22nd week inside the ten best-sellers, Maître Gims‘ Subliminal stays at number two for the fourth non-consecutive week, the first two were in June (18,100 sales / -61%). The compilation NRJ Music Awards – 15th Edition is a non-mover at three in its fifth week in the top 10 (17,900 sales).

After an eight-week absence, the album Forever Gentlemen is back inside the top five, as it moves up two places at four in its 11th week in the top 10 (13,000 sales / -56%). In its second week on the chart, the compilation NRJ Hits 2014 climbs a massive 28 places at five (11,000 sales).

It’s a good week for Tal, A L’Infini is up three at number six in its tenth week inside the ten best-sellers (10,400 sales), the album debuted and peaked at three in September. Vieillir Avec Toi moves down three places at seven for Florent Pagny in its ninth week in the top 10 (9,700 sales / -72%). The album We Love Disney also falls three at number eight in its fifth week inside the top 10 (9,400 sales / -72%).

In her 16th week inside the ten best-sellers, Zaz slips two at number nine with Recto Verso (8,900 sales). It’s down two places at ten for Bruno Mars‘ Unorthodox Jukebox in its 35th week in the top 10 (8,300 sales).

One album drops out of the top 10 this week. In her ninth week on the chart, Céline Dion falls seven places at 17 with Loved Me Back To Life, the album reached number three in November.

In its 15th week inside the top 250, Luis moves up four at number eleven for Vincent Niclo. A former Number One (for three consecutive weeks in June), Daft Punk‘s Random Access Memories climbs eight places at 14 in its 33rd week on the chart (6,700 sales).

Beyoncé‘s eponymous album is up four at number 15 in its fourth week inside the 250 best-sellers, Beyoncé is her fourth top 15 LP, I Am… Sasha Fierce “only” peaked at 20 in November 2008.

Some albums move up the chart as you can find them at mid-price. In its 96th week on the chart, Stromae‘s Cheese climbs 23 places at 16 (6,400 sales / -10%), it reached number eight in June and July 2010 and spent two weeks in the top 10. Le Droit De Rêver is up 46 places at 25 for Tal in its 94th week inside the top 250 (4,300 sales), the LP peaked at number four in February 2013. Birdy‘s eponymous album jumps from 88 to 40 in its 88th week inside the 250 best-sellers.

In its 14th week on the chart, Pure Heroine moves up 18 places at 35 for Lorde, it reached number 27 in November. Avicii is back up nine at number 41 with True in his 16th week in the top 250, the album debuted and peaked at eight in September.

The 2013 French Singles Chart

“Get Lucky” is the best-selling song in France for 2013 for Daft Punk featuring Pharrell Williams (360,000 sales). The song was the first (and still only) one to sell more than 30,000 downloads in one week, it even did it twice (38,887 in three days for its first week on the chart, and 33,412 the week after), and spent eight non-consecutive weeks at the top from April to July.

“Blurred Lines” is at two for Robin Thicke featuring T.I. and Pharrell (292,000 sales), it was Number One for six weeks in June and July and sold 20,555 copies during the week ending 9th June. Stromae has two songs inside the top five : “Papaoutai” at three (217,000), and “Formidable” at five (186,000). They both reached the top.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have two songs inside the ten best-sellers, their chart-topper “Thrift Shop” at number four with 206,000 downloads (featuring Wanz, Number One for eight consecutive weeks from January to March), and “Can’t Hold Us” at eight with 163,000 (featuring Ray Dalton, number three in April and May).

Avicii‘s “Wake Me Up !” is at six with 171,000 sales, the song spent two weeks at the top in August and September. Bruno Mars‘ first single taken from his very successful album Unorthodox Jukebox, “Locked Out Of Heaven” is at number seven (167,000 sales). It’s the best-selling song that didn’t get to Number One, it peaked at three in March.

Three acts own two songs inside the top ten, and Maître Gims is the third one. At nine, “J’Me Tire” spent four weeks at Number One in March and April (161,000 sales), and you can find “Bella” at number ten (159,000 sales).

2013 was another great year for Rihanna, “Stay” (featuring Mikky Ekko) is at eleven (139,000 sales), and her chart-topper from 2012 “Diamonds” is at 19 (116,000). Another song from 2012 is inside the top 20, at 12 with Adele‘s “Skyfall” (135,000 sales).

It was not a very successful year for both acts in the albums chart, but “Scream & Shout” is the 13th best-selling song in 2013 for will.i.am featuring Britney Spears (135,000 sales), the song was Number One for one week in January. At number 14, you can find a song which refused to die : Asaf Avidan & The Mojos‘ “One Day / Reckoning Song” spent its first week in the top 10 in September 2012 and was still there in March !  Its peak position (number two) was only reached in February.

The 2012 X Factor UK winner James Arthur is at a very good number 15 with “Impossible” (128,000 sales). The first 2013 chart-topper, PSY‘s “Gangnam Style” is at 16.

“Just Give Me A Reason” is at number 17 for P!nk featuring Nate Ruess (121,000 sales), it was in the ten best-sellers for nine weeks and peaked at four in March and April. Number two in April, Alex Hepburn‘s “Under” is at 18 for 2013 (117,000 sales). “Watch Out For This” is at number 20 for Major Lazer featuring Busy Signal, The Flexican & FS Green (112,000 sales), the song reached number four in June.

The 2013 French Albums Chart

Stromae‘s Racine Carrée has spent a great 17 weeks at Number One, and is the best-selling album in France in 2013 with 1,159,320 sales. Since 2001, only three albums had sold more than one million copies in a calendar year : in 2002 with Patrick Bruel‘s Entre Deux (1,118,800), the soundtrack from Les Choristes in 2004 (1,058,000), and Renaud with Boucan D’Enfer in 2002 (1,034,169). In 2011, Adele‘s 21 was very close with 995,618 copies sold.

They had the biggest one-week-sales in May (195,013), Daft Punk are at number two with Random Access Memories (509,209 sales), the album was at the top for three consecutive weeks in May and June. That LP was never Number One, but it was inside the top 30 for its 32 weeks : Maître Gims sold 497,513 copies of Subliminal.

It’s not surprising to find Les Enfoirés in the top five, at four with La Boîte A Musique Des Enfoirés which spent five weeks at Number One in March and April (421,200 sales). Only peaking at four in August but number five in 2013, Bruno Mars‘ Unorthodox Jukebox has spent the whole year inside the top 30 (419,459 sales).

In 2013 Zaz has confirmed the success of her eponymous debut album, 390,005 copies of Recto Verso have been sold. It’s not 2007 anymore, when Mon Paradis had sold 713,916 copies, but Christophe Maé‘s Je Veux Du Bonheur sold a robust 388,325 copies. The album Génération Goldman is at number eight with 291,517 sales, the second volume is at eleven.

Florent Pagny only released Vieillir Avec Toi in November, but it’s already at number nine with 279,374 copies sold. The musical Robin Des Bois sold around 279,000 copies and is at number ten. Tal had a great 2013, she owns two albums inside the top 25 : at 13 with A L’Infini (214,661 sales), and at 21 with Le Droit De Rêver (143,849 sales).

These albums are not in this year’s top 10, but were very successful : We Love Disney (208,748 sales in four weeks), Les Stentors‘ Une Histoire De France (181,192), Vincent Niclo with Luis (142,485), Odysseus by Luc Arbogast (138,680), Keen’V with Ange Ou Démon (123,123), and Thérèse / Vivre D’Amour (107,579), among others.

Some established acts have shown that they can still sell albums : Pascal Obispo‘s best-of Millésimes sold 164,139 copies, and his new studio LP Le Grand Amour more than 125,000 in four weeks. In this category, you can also find Depeche Mode with Delta Machine (127,813), David Bowie‘s The Next Day (126,047 / number two in March), Texas with The Conversation (88,807), Les Chansons De L’Innocence Retrouvée by Etienne Daho (82,527), and Placebo with Loud Like Love (57,945).

Other established acts struggled in 2013 : Justin Timberlake (The 20/20 Experience), and will.i.am (#willpower) sold only 50,000 copies this year. Lady Gaga‘s ARTPOP was inside the ten best-sellers for just one week (peaking at three), and only 48,820 copies were sold in seven weeks. Only three weeks in the top 50, Sting‘s The Last Ship sold 28,243 copies. Paul McCartney‘s New has not reached the 30,000, and even with the big hit “Blurred Lines”, Robin Thicke has not sold more than 26,000 copies of the album of the same name. Britney Jean is Britney Spears‘ first studio LP not to have reached the top 20 (peaking at number 22), the album sold 22,839 copies in four weeks. Will 2014 be better for her ?
