Week Ending 23rd December 2012 / Singles Chart

“Scream & Shout” is the most downloaded song in France for the third consecutive week (14,516 downloads / Be careful, I only own the sales figures of the downloads this week), but it’s down one place at number three for will.i.am featuring Britney Spears in its fifth week in the top 10 of the combined singles chart. The reason ? The two best-selling singles can be found physically in the shops.

So the Christmas number one for 2012 is PSY who is up two places to spend a third week at the top with “Gangnam Style” in his 13th week in the top 10 (13,928 downloads). After six non-consecutive weeks at number one, Adele‘s “Skyfall” is down to number two in its 12th week in the top 10 (10,893 downloads).

In its 14th week in the top 10, “One Day / Reckoning Song” is back up one place at four for Asaf Avidan & The Mojos (9,507 downloads), the song was number three for four non-consecutive weeks in October and November. Rihanna slips one place at five with “Diamonds” in her 13th week in the top 10 (9,422 downloads).

There is no change for the N°6-10 positions. “Locked Out Of Heaven” is at six for Bruno Mars in its fifth week in the top 10 (9,173 downloads). Emeli Sandé is still at seven with “Read All About It (Pt. III)” in her fifth week in the top 10 (6,465 downloads). Birdy stays at number eight with “People Help The People” in her second week in the top 10 (5,889 downloads). There is no move at nine for Alicia Keys featuring Nicki Minaj with “Girl On Fire” in their seventh week in the top 10 (5,755 downloads). “Envole-Moi” is at ten for M. Pokora and Tal in its sixth week in the top 10 (4,587 downloads).

“Die Young” gets its peak position this week as it’s back up six places at 14 for Ke$ha in its 13th week on the chart (3,221 downloads). P!nk climbs six at number 17 with “Try” in her 13th week in the top 200 (2,876 downloads), “Try” is the seventh top 20 hit for P!nk, “Get The Party Started” (in January 2005) and “So What” (in December 2008) both reached number four.

Birdy‘s “Skinny Love” is back in the top 20 as it’s up nine places at 18 in its 34th week on the chart, the song spent 18 weeks in the top 10 and reached number two in June. The big climber of the week is for Mariah Carey, indeed her “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is up a massive 66 places at 25 in its sixth week in the top 200 (2,306 downloads), it’s a new peak for the song as it reached number 30 in December 2011.

In its third week on the chart, “Feel This Moment” climbs 28 at number 35 for Pitbull featuring Christina Aguilera (1,703 downloads).

So the winner of the Christmas albums chart 2012 is… Céline Dion ! Indeed she is up one place to spend a second week at number one with “Sans Attendre” in her seventh week in the top 10 (140,718 sales, 138,592 physical + 2,126 downloads / +81%). The album has sold 521,004 copies so far. When was the last time Céline Dion was at the top of the French albums chart at Christmas time ? It was in 1997 when “Let’s Talk About Love” spent seven consecutive weeks at number one from November to January 1998.

We have to notice that “Génération Goldman” is close behind with 132,197 sales (128,395 physical + 3,802 downloads / +45%). The album is down one place at two and has sold 431,147 copies in its five weeks in the top 10. It’s a good week for Johnny Hallyday as “L’Attente” climbs one at number three in its sixth week in the top 10 (75,268 sales / +45%). 363,792 copies have been sold so far.

“Monkey Me” falls one place at four for Mylène Farmer (71,978 sales / +8%). In its three weeks in the top 10, “Monkey Me” has sold 285,461 copies. In his fourth week in the top 10, Patrick Bruel is up one at number five with “Lequel De Nous” (57,219 sales / +56%), the album has sold 186,050 copies so far.

“O Filles De L’Eau” slips one place at six for Nolwenn Leroy (50,552 sales / +29%). In its four weeks in the top 10, “O Filles De L’Eau” has sold 165,321 copies. “The 2nd Law” climbs two at seven for Muse in its 10th week in the top 10 (45,025 sales / +81%), it was at the top of the albums chart for three consecutive weeks in October.

Rihanna‘s “Unapologetic” stays at number eight in its fifth week in the top 10 (36,386 sales / +43%), 141,926 copies of “Unapologetic” have been sold so far. In her fourth week in the top 10, Tal is up one place at nine with “Le Droit De Rêver” (36,128 copies / +55%). “Opéra Rouge” is back up six places at number ten for Vincent Niclo & Les Choeurs De L’Armée Rouge in its eighth week in the top 10 (35,170 sales / +86%).

Only one album drops out of the top 10 this week. Bruno Mars falls nine at number 16 with “Unorthodox Jukebox” in his second week on the chart (26,810 sales / +3%). The album has sold 52,730 copies so far.

Week Ending 16th December 2012 / Singles Chart

In its 11th week in the top 10, Adele‘s “Skyfall” stays at the top of the French singles chart for the sixth non-consecutive week thanks for its physical sales, indeed “Skyfall” doesn’t move at number four in the downloads. In this chart, the number one for the second week is “Scream & Shout” by will.i.am featuring Britney Spears. In the combined singles chart, the song is still at number two in its fourth week in the top 10.

In his 12th week in the top 10, PSY is back up one place at three with “Gangnam Style”, he was at the top for two weeks in October. Rihanna‘s “Diamonds” slips one at number four in its 12th week in the top 10. “One Day / Reckoning Song” is for the third consecutive week at number five for Asaf Avidan & The Mojos in its 13th week in the top 10.

Bruno Mars stays at six with “Locked Out Of Heaven” in his fourth week in the top 10. “Read All About It (Pt. III)” is still at number seven for Emeli Sandé in its fourth week in the top 10.

In this very quiet top 10, the only newcomer this week is Birdy who climbs three places at number eight with “People Help The People” in her 26th week on the chart. It’s her second top 10 hit, “Skinny Love” reached number two in June and spent 18 weeks in the top 10.

“Girl On Fire” is down one place at nine for Alicia Keys featuring Nicki Minaj in its sixth week in the top 10, the song was number five last month. It’s also down one at number ten for M. Pokora and Tal with “Envole-Moi” in their fifth week in the top 10.

So only one song drops out of the top 10 this week. After two weeks in the top 10, Pulcino Pio falls four at number 14 with “Le Poussin Piou”, it reached number nine as a new entry two weeks ago.

“Problèmes D’Adultes” is up one at number 11 for Sexion D’Assaut in its sixth week in the top 200, could it be their fourth top 10 hit in 2012, after “Avant Qu’Elle Parte” (number three for nine weeks from January to April), “Ma Direction” (number five in May), and “Wati House” (number four in August) ? Place your bets.

Thanks to its use for a Samsung advert, Calvin Harris climbs 13 places at 13 with “Feel So Close” in his 26th week on the chart. As a solo act, it’s his first top 20 hit, but “We Found Love” was number one for five weeks in October and November 2011 as a featured artist with Rihanna.

In its 47th week in the top 200, C2C‘s “Down The Road” is up seven at number 18, it was at the top of the singles chart for one week in September. After her big fall last week, it’s interesting to notice that Mylène Farmer doesn’t move at number 21 with “A L’Ombre”, the song spent two weeks in the top 10 and was number one two weeks ago.

In its fifth week on the chart, “Just One Last Time” is up 15 places at 30 for David Guetta featuring Taped Rai. “F**kin’ Problems” is new in the top 50 as it’s up 12 at number 39 for A$AP Rocky featuring Drake, 2 Chainz & Kendrick Lamar in its fifth week in the top 200. “Beauty And A Beat” climbs 19 places at 40 for Justin Bieber featuring Nicki Minaj in its 10th week on the chart.

Week Ending 16th December 2012 / Albums Chart

In its fourth week in the top 10, “Génération Goldman” is back at the top of the French albums chart as it’s up one place (91,376 sales / +17%). The album entered at number one three weeks ago, it has sold 298,950 copies so far. It’s a very week also for Céline Dion who climbs one at number two with “Sans Attendre” (77,835 sales / +19%), it has sold 380,286 copies in its six weeks in the top 10.

Last week’s number one, Mylène Farmer‘s “Monkey Me” is down to number three in its second week in the top 10 (65,971 sales / -55%). There is no move at number four for Johnny Hallyday with “L’Attente” in his fifth week in the top 10 (52,041 sales / +30%), the album has sold 288,524 copies so far.

Nolwenn Leroy stays at five with “O Filles De L’Eau” (39,288 sales / +15%), the album has sold 114,769 copies in its three weeks in the top 10. “Lequel De Nous” is still at number six for Patrick Bruel in its third week in the top 10 (36,588 sales / +12%), it was number one two weeks ago and has sold 128,831 copies so far.

The highest new entry of the week is for Bruno Mars with “Unorthodox Jukebox” at number seven (25,920 sales). It’s his first top 10 album as “Doo-Wops & Hooligans” reached number 13 in July 2011. Rihanna is down one place at eight with “Unapologetic” (25,456 sales / +15%), the album has sold 105,540 copies in its four weeks in the top 10.

In its ninth week in the top 10, Muse‘s “The 2nd Law” is up one at number nine (24,825 sales). Tal climbs one place at ten with “Le Droit De Rêver” in her third week in the top 10 (23,356 sales / +46%), the album reached number seven in March.

Two albums drop out of the top 10 this week. In his 39th week in the top 200, M. Pokora slips three at number 11 with “A La Poursuite Du Bonheur”, the album reached number two and spent nine weeks in the top 10. After seven weeks in the top 10, Vincent Niclo & Les Choeurs De L’Armée Rouge fall seven places at 16 with “Opéra Rouge”.

In her 33rd week on the chart, Birdy is back up seven at number 13 (20,948 sales), “Birdy” was number five in June. Adele‘s “21” climbs five places at 17 in its 99th (!) week in the top 200 (18,724 sales), it was number one for 21 weeks from June 2011 to March 2012.

“Solide” is new at number 45 for Sheila, it’s her first studio album since 2002 when “Seulement Pour Toi” reached number 47 in September. Howard Shore is also new at 56 with the soundtrack of “The Hobbit : An Unexpected Journey”.

Week Ending 9th December 2012 / Singles Chart

As last week’s number one, Mylène Farmer is down a massive 20 places (!) at number 21 with ‘A L’Ombre’, Adele is back up one place to spend a fifth week at the top of the French singles chart with ‘Skyfall’ in her 10th week in the top 10.

In its third week in the top 10, ‘Scream & Shout’ climbs four places at two for will.i.am featuring Britney Spears. will.i.am also reached number two in August with ‘This Is Love’ (featuring Eva Simons), the last time Britney Spears was in the top two was with ‘Womanizer’ which was number one for five consecutive weeks in December 2008 and January 2009.

Rihanna‘s ‘Diamonds’ is back up one place at three in its 11th week in the top 10, the song was number one for three weeks in September and October. Another former number one (for two weeks in October), PSY‘s ‘Gangnam Style’ slips one at number four in its 11th week in the top 10. Asaf Avidan & The Mojos are still at five with ‘One Day / Reckoning Song’ in their 12th week in the top 10.

Bruno Mars is up one place this week at number six with ‘Locked Out Of Heaven’ in his third week in the top 10, it equals his highest charting song ‘Young, Wild & Free’ (as a featured artist, with Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa) which was number six in January. As a solo artist, he reached number seven in February and March 2011 with ‘Grenade’.

Emeli Sandé is back in the top 10, as ‘Read All About It (Pt. III)’ climbs four places at seven in its third week in the top 10. It’s a third consecutive week at number eight for Alicia Keys featuring Nicki Minaj with ‘Girl On Fire’ in its fifth week in the top 10. M. Pokora and Tal are back up one at number nine with ‘Envole-Moi’ in their fourth week in the top 10. In his second week on the chart, Pulcino Pio slips one place at ten with ‘Le Poussin Piou’.

So only one song drops out of the top 10, but it’s a very big faller ! Mylène Farmer‘s ‘A L’Ombre’ is down to number 21, but it’s not very surprising as her last number one ‘Lonely Lisa’ fell to number 17 in July 2011, and ‘Bleu Noir’ was down 35 places at number 36 in April 2011 !

‘Fiesta Buena’ is up six at number 14 for DJ Mam’s featuring Luis Guisao and Soldat Jahman in its ninth week on the chart, it’s the second top 15 hit for DJ Mam’s and Luis Guisao, after ‘Zumba He Zumba Ha’ (featuring Jessy Matador) which was number seven in August.

It’s up nine places at 16 for Ke$ha with ‘Die Young’ in her 11th week in the top 200. The song is her third top 20 hit, ‘Right Round’ (as a featured artist, with Flo Rida) reached number two in April 2009, and ‘TiK ToK’ was number one for two weeks in February 2010, but you have to know that only the physical sales were counted in the French singles chart at that time, so ‘TiK ToK’ sold only 3,493 and 2,856 physical copies to be at the top in those two weeks ! The download sales were included for the first time in the week ending 30th January 2011.

‘Coup De Coeur’ reaches its peak position this week, as the song is back up six places at 17 for Kenza Farah featuring Soprano in its 14th week in the top 200. ‘WatiBigAli’ climbs six at number 22 for Big Ali featuring Wati B in its 10th week on the chart.

Week Ending 9th December 2012 / Albums Chart

There is no surprise at the top of the albums chart this week, as ‘Monkey Me’ enters at number one for Mylène Farmer. It’s her seventh album to reach the top in the 2000s, after ‘Mylenium Tour’ (for one week in December 2000), ‘Avant Que L’Ombre…’ (for three weeks in April 2005), ‘Avant Que L’Ombre… A Bercy’ (for one week in December 2006), ‘Point De Suture’ (for one week in August 2008), ‘N°5 On Tour’ (for one week in December 2009), and ‘Bleu Noir’ (for three weeks in December 2010).

‘Monkey Me’ sold 147,512 copies which is the best weekly sales figures in 2012, beating Les Enfoirés with ‘Le Bal Des Enfoirés 2012’ which sold 137,730 copies in the week ending 18th March. ‘Monkey Me’ sold more copies than Mylène Farmer‘s last three studio albums in their first week, ‘Avant Que L’Ombre’ sold 136,318 copies in April 2005, ‘Point De Suture’ 108,596 in August 2008, and ‘Bleu Noir’ 139,176 in December 2010.

There is no move for ‘Génération Goldman’ at number two in its third week in the top 10 (77,814 sales / +32%), the album was at the top two weeks ago and has sold 207,574 copies so far. ‘Sans Attendre’ stays at three for Céline Dion (65,220 sales / +13%), the album has sold 302,451 copies in its five weeks in the top 10. Johnny Hallyday is back up two places at number four with ‘L’Attente’ in his fourth week in the top 10 (40,105 sales / +9%). ‘O Filles De L’Eau’ doesn’t move at five for Nolwenn Leroy in its second week on the chart (34,195 sales / -17%).

Patrick Bruel falls five places at number six with ‘Lequel De Nous’ in his second week in the top 10 (32,624 sales / -45%), his last studio album ‘Des Souvenirs Devant…’ spent four consecutive weeks in the top five in March and April 2006. Even if we can consider it’s more difficult to stay in the top five in December, it’s a bit disappointing for Patrick Bruel. ‘Unapologetic’ is still at seven for Rihanna in its third week in the top 10 (22,060 sales / +7%), the album has sold 80,084 copies so far.

M. Pokora is back in the top 10, as ‘A La Poursuite Du Bonheur’ is up three at number eight in its ninth week in the top 10 (18,324 sales), the album reached number two in March. ‘Opéra Rouge’ is a non-mover at nine for Vincent Niclo & Les Choeurs De L’Armée Rouge in its seventh week in the top 10 (17,986 sales / +32%). Muse‘s ‘The 2nd Law’ is back up two places at ten in its eighth week in the top 10, it was number one for three consecutive weeks in October.

Three albums drop out of the top 10 this week. M slips two at number 12 with ‘Il’, the album reached number four and spent three weeks in the top 10. In her 38th week in the top 200, Tal is up six places at 11 with ‘Le Droit De Rêver’ (16,001 sales), the album reached number seven as a new entry in March and was in the top 10 for two weeks. ‘Le Calme Et La Tempête’ is the second highest new entry of the week at number 14 for Olivia Ruiz (14,619 sales). She had two number one albums, with ‘La Femme Chocolat (Mmm…)’ for one week in August 2006, and ‘Miss Météores’ for one week in April 2009, it debuted with 25,515 sales.

In its 39th week on the chart, ‘Our Version Of Events’ is up 12 places at 23 for Emeli Sandé. Keny Arkana is new at 24 with ‘Tout Tourne Autour Du Soleil’, her last album ‘L’Esquisse Vol. 2’ reached number 11 in May 2011. ‘La Balade Du Poète’ is a new entry at number 28 for Serge Lama, ‘L’Age D’Horizons’ was number 15 in November 2008.

Week Ending 2nd December 2012 / Albums Chart

Less than 2,000 sales separate the three best-selling albums this week, and Patrick Bruel wins that battle with his new album ‘Lequel De Nous’ which is his fourth number one album in the 2000s (59,619 sales), after ‘Juste Avant’ (for one week in January 2000, also for one week in October 1999), ‘Entre-Deux…’ (for 11 weeks from June to September 2002), and ‘Des Souvenirs Devant…’, that last studio album entered the albums chart at number one with 92,976 copies sold and stayed at the top for two weeks in March and April 2006.

So ‘Génération Goldman’ is down to number two in its second week on the chart (58,847 sales / -17%). In its fourth week in the top 10, Céline Dion‘s ‘Sans Attendre’ is back up one place at three (57,643 sales / +61%), the album has sold 237,231 copies so far.

Number one in the downloads with a massive 15,504 sales, Booba is new at four in the combined albums chart with ‘Futur’ (49,437 sales). Booba had two number one albums, with ‘Ouest Side’ for one week in February 2006, and ‘Lunatic’ for one week in November 2010. It is interesting to notice that ‘Lunatic’ entered at number one with 30,621 copies sold.

Nolwenn Leroy is new at number five with ‘O Filles De L’Eau’ (41,286 sales), it’s her fourth top five album, after ‘Nolwenn’ (number one for one week in March 2003), ‘Histoires Naturelles’ (number three in December 2005), and obviously ‘Bretonne’ (number one for seven weeks from January to March 2011).

‘L’Attente’ falls four at number six for Johnny Hallyday (36,808 sales / -6%), it has sold 196,378 copies in its three weeks in the top 10. It’s also down four at seven for Rihanna‘s ‘Unapologetic’ in its second week on the chart (20,682 sales / -45%).

‘Girl On Fire’ enters at eight for Alicia Keys with 16,336 sales, it’s her third top 10 album, ‘The Diary Of Alicia Keys’ (in October 2004) and ‘As I Am’ (in November 2007) both reached number five. Her last studio album ‘The Element Of Freedom’ was number 13 in December 2009 and January 2010.

In its 11th week on the chart, ‘Opéra Rouge’ is back up 16 places at nine for Vincent Niclo & Les Choeurs De L’Armée Rouge, the album reached number four in September. M falls four at number ten with ‘Il’, it has sold 67,033 copies in its three weeks in the top 10.

Five albums drop out of the top 10 this week. ‘A La Poursuite Du Bonheur’ is down four places at 11 for M. Pokora, the album spent eight weeks in the top 10 and reached number two in March. After two weeks in the top 10, One Direction‘s ‘Take Me Home’ falls four at 14. The other fallers are new entries from last week’s chart, ‘Live 2012’ is down ten at 15 for Coldplay, Led Zeppelin falls seven at number 16 with ‘Celebration Day’, and ‘Live = Vivant’ is down eleven at 19 for Jean-Louis Aubert.

Tal climbs nine places at 17 with ‘Le Droit De Rêver’ in her 37th week in the top 200, she reached number seven in March. There is a new edition of ‘Caméléon’, so Shy’m is back in the top 20 as she is up a massive 27 places at number 18 (9,816 sales), the album was number one for one week in July.

Cali enters at 21 with ‘Vernet Les Bains’ (7,987 sales), it’s a rather disappointing new entry for him as his last album ‘La Vie est Une Truite Arc-En-Ciel Qui Nage Dans Mon Coeur’ reached number 11 in November 2010. Cali was also number one for one week with ‘L’Espoir’ in February 2008, the album opened with 28,433 sales that week…

Eros Ramazzotti is new at 22 with ‘Noi’ (7,834 sales), he reached number three with ‘Eros’ in November 1997, and with ‘Stilelibero’ in November 2000. Julien Clerc enters at 24 with a live album ‘Symphonique : A L’Opéra National De Paris – Palais Garnier’ (7,513 sales).

Week Ending 2nd December 2012 / Singles Chart

Thanks to the various physical releases, Mylène Farmer gets her record 13th number one in the French singles chart with ‘A L’Ombre’, she is up a massive 58 places in her sixth week on the chart, she sold a total of 22,207 copies (+1,772% !), 19,294 physical and 2,733 digital sales. She entered at number four with only digital sales and fell as low as number 149 two weeks ago.

So ‘A L’Ombre’ is Mylène Farmer‘s 13th number one, after ‘Pourvu Qu’Elles Soient Douces’ (for five weeks from December 1988 to January 1989), ‘Désenchantée’ (for nine weeks from April to June 1991), ‘XXL’ (for one week in September 1995), ‘Slipping Away (Crier La Vie)’ (with Moby, for one week in September 2006), ‘Dégénération’ (for one week in August 2008), ‘Appelle Mon Numéro’ (for one week in November 2008), ‘Si J’Avais Au Moins…’ (for one week in February 2009), ‘C’Est Dans L’Air’ (for one week in May 2009), ‘Sextonik’ (for one week in September 2009), ‘Oui Mais… Non’ (for three weeks in December 2010), ‘Bleu Noir’ (for one week in April 2011), and ‘Lonely Lisa’ (for one week in July 2011).

After four consecutive weeks at the top, Adele‘s ‘Skyfall’ slips one place in its ninth week in the top 10 (15,697 sales / +2%), so (for the moment) it has only equalled the four-week reign of ‘Someone Like You’ from October to December 2011. ‘Gangnam Style’ falls one at number three for PSY in its 10th week in the top 10 (12,197 sales / -12%), the song spent two weeks at number one in October.

In her 10th week in the top 10, Rihanna is also down one at number four with ‘Diamonds’ (11,449 sales / +3%). Asaf Avidan & The Mojos fall one place at five with ‘One Day / Reckoning Song’ in their 11th week in the top 10 (9,543 sales / -10%). In its second week on the chart, ‘Scream & Shout’ doesn’t move at six for will.i.am featuring Britney Spears (9,219 sales / +69%).

Bruno Mars climbs two places at number seven with ‘Locked Out Of Heaven’ in his second week in the top 10 (8,660 sales / +102%). There is no move at number eight for Alicia Keys featuring Nicki Minaj with ‘Girl On Fire’ in their fourth week in the top 10 (7,440 sales).

The highest new entry of the week is for… Pulcino Pio at number nine with ‘Le Poussin Piou’ (6,257 sales), a future chart-topper ? Place your bets. It’s down five at number ten for M. Pokora and Tal with ‘Envole-Moi’ in their third week in the top 10 (5,246 sales / -13%).

Two songs drop out of the top 10 this week. After two weeks in the top 10, Emeli Sandé is down four places at eleven with ‘Read All About It (Pt. III)’. ‘She Wolf (Falling To Pieces)’ falls five at number 15 for David Guetta featuring Sia, the song reached number four and spent 14 weeks in the top 10.

As it’s up 18 places at number 13 in its fourth week in the top 200, ‘Problèmes D’Adultes’ is the fourth top 15 hit in 2012 for Sexion D’Assaut (3,729 sales), the others were ‘Avant Qu’Elle Parte’ (at three for nine non-consecutive weeks from January to April), ‘Ma Direction’ (at five in May), and ‘Wati House’ (at four in August).

Booba gets his third top 20 hit as ‘Tombé Pour Elle’ is new at 16 (3,541 sales), ‘Scarface’ was number 20 in November 2011, and ‘Caramel’ reached number 10 in September. Rohff is also new, at number 18 with ‘K-Sos Musik’ (3,047 sales), he was number one for three weeks in March 2002 with ‘Qui Est L’Exemple ?’.

‘Die Young’ is up nine at number 25 for Ke$ha in its 10th week on the chart. In her 15th week in the top 200, Shy’m climbs ten places at 32 with ‘On Se Fout De Nous’ as she sang it last week in the TV show ‘Danse Avec Les Stars’ (1,871 sales). Tal is up a massive 23 places at number 37 with ‘Personne N’Est Parfait’ in her fifth week on the chart (1,693 sales).
