So, what’s new in the top 10 ? Hmmm… nothing. Last week was very static with only a newcomer in the top 10 (fun. featuring Janelle Monáe, from 22 to 10). This week, it’s worse, there are the same songs in the top 10 (like in the UK) !
There is no change at the top of the chart, Carly Rae Jepsen spends her 5th non-consecutive week at number one with “Call Me Maybe” (8414 sales, -1%) in her 13th week in the top 10.
“Et Alors !” stays at number 2 for Shy’m in its 4th week in the top 10 even if its sales figures are down for the second consecutive week (6457, -15%), but her album “Caméléon” is still in the top 5 in its 4th week too, falling just one place from 3 to 4.
Pitbull‘s “Back In Time” gets its peak position this week, climbing from 4 to 3, in its 8th week in the top 10 (5983 sales, -6%). We can remember that Pitbull has been number one in France with two songs : for eight consecutive weeks in July and August 2009 with “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)”, and for one week in March 2011 as a featured artist on Jennifer Lopez‘s “On The Floor”. Can he get a third one ?
A former number two 6 weeks ago, Birdy‘s “Skinny Love” is still climbing back the chart, this week from 5 to 4, in its 11th week in the top 10 (5979 sales, -4%). On the contrary, it’s a bad week for Tacabro‘s “Tacatà”, the song falls from 3 to 5 in its 11th week in the top 10 (5852 sales, -15%).
“Rayos De Sol” is slowly climbing the chart (10-8-8-7-6) for Jose De Rico featuring Henry Mendez. As a consequence, Flo Rida is down a place at 7 with “Whistle” in his 9th week in the top 10. Everybody is static for the number 8-10 positions : Gusttavo Lima is at 8 with “Balada” in his 12th week in the top 10, it’s a 21st week in the top 10 at number 9 for Gotye featuring Kimbra with “Somebody That I Used To Know”, and fun. featuring Janelle Monáe‘s “We Are Young” is at 10 in its second week in the top 10.
But there is hope that things can change next week, indeed “This Is Love” is up the chart every week, this week from 16 to 11 for will.i.am featuring Eva Simons in its fourth week in the top 50 (4324 sales, +22%). Shakira gets her 12th top 15 in France with “Addicted To You”, she is up two places from 17 to 15 (3381 sales, +3%). It’s a good week also for Emeli Sandé, she’s new in the top 20, up 7 places from 26 to 19 with “Next To Me”.
Khaled is up 8 places from 30 to 22 in his second week with “C’est La Vie” (2746 sales, +28%). Like Pitbull, he had two number ones in the French singles chart : for one week in October 1996 with “Aïcha”, and for seven non-consecutive weeks from April to June 2009 as a featured artist on Magic System‘s “Même Pas Fatigué !!!”.
Chris Brown is up 7 places from 34 to 27 with “Don’t Wake Me Up” (2211 sales). As a lead artist, Chris Brown has not been in the top 20 in France since… June 2008 with “With You” (peak position : number 11 in May 2008). But he was at number 6 in February 2012 on Pitbull‘s “International Love” (I think my article is all about Pitbull this week…).
Future hits ? Nicki Minaj‘s “Pound The Alarm” is closer to the top 50, as it’s up from number 72 to 52. BB Brunes are also up from 87 to 62 in their fourth week in the top 200 with “Coups Et Blessures”. Taio Cruz and Pitbull (sorry…) are up a massive 35 places from 100 to 65 with “There She Goes”. In their second week in the chart, Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen climb 30 places from 107 to 77 with “Good Time”.
Future hit ? Not really for Céline Dion (for the moment). In its third week in the chart, “Parler A Mon Père” is only at number 85 this week, falling 10 places…
