It’s an exciting chart this week because there are three newcomers in the top 10 and there is a serious new contender for the number one spot.
So let’s start with Carly Rae Jepsen who is still at the top of the French singles chart for the seventh non-consecutive week with “Call Me Maybe” in her 15th week in the top 10 (8255 sales, +5%), she’s the first lead female singer to be at the top for so long since Shakira who was number one for seven non-consecutive weeks with “Je L’Aime A Mourir” in December 2011 and January 2012.
And the new contender for the number one spot is… “This Is Love” by will.i.am featuring Eva Simons in its only second week in the top 10 (5884 sales, +7%). It is no surprise because the song has climbed every week : 46-29-16-11-5-2. Can they be at the top next week ? It’s hard to say because the gap with Carly Rae Jepsen is still important (2371 sales) and “This Is Love” has only added 396 sales from last week’s chart.
Shy’m‘s dream of being number one for the first time with “Et Alors !” might be over, as the song is down a place at 3 with 5399 sales (-16%) in its 6th week in the top 10. Tacabro shows no signs of going out of the top 5, indeed “Tacatà” is still at number 4 (5339 sales, -6%) in its 12th consecutive week in the top 5 (and 13th in the top 10).
There is also a newcomer in the top 5, “Rayos De Sol” is still slowly climbing the chart in its 7th week in the top 10 (10-8-8-7-6-6-5) for Jose De Rico featuring Henry Mendez with 5136 sales.
Like Shy’m, we can think that Pitbull‘s chances of reaching number one are over, as “Back In Time” is down three places at 6 in its 10th week in the top 10 (5049 sales, -15%).
will.i.am may not be the only contender for the top spot in the near future because Alex Ferrari is up a massive 27 places at number 7 with “Bara Bará Bere Berê” in his second week in the chart (4498 sales). As the sales figures are very low, could he be in the top 3 next week ? Place your bets.
At last, in its 16th week in the top 200, “Payphone” has finally reached the top 10 for Maroon 5 featuring Wiz Khalifa, climbing three places at number 8 (4491 sales, +11%). It’s the third top 10 song for Maroon 5, after “This Love” (number 6 in September 2004) and “Moves Like Jagger” (featuring Christina Aguilera, number 3 in September 2011). It’s the second top 10 hit for Wiz Khalifa after “Young, Wild & Free” (with Snoop Dogg featuring Bruno Mars, number 6 in January 2012).
Is it the last week for Birdy in the top 10 ? Indeed, “Skinny Love” is down two places at 9 in its 13th week in the top 10 (4411 sales, -16%).
The last newcomer in the top 10 this week is R.I.O. featuring Nicco, they are up two places at number 10 with “Party Shaker” (4381 sales). In its 8th week in the top 200, the song has always climbed : 89-52-44-34-19-17-12-10. It’s the second top 10 song for R.I.O., as “Shine On” reached number 8 in July 2009.
It’s a good week for Sexion D’Assaut, “Wati House” is back up the chart, from 15 to 11 in its 22nd week in the top 200. “Wati House” reached number 10 seven weeks ago. DJ Mam’s is in the top 20 for the first time, “Zumba He Zumba Ha” is up 8 places at number 19 in its 4th week in the top 50.
Chris Brown is back in the top 20 for the first time as a lead singer since “With You” (number 11 in May 2008), as “Don’t Wake Me Up” climbs five places at number 20. As a featured artist, he reached number 6 in February 2012 with “International Love” with Pitbull.
Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen are up 9 places at 33 with “Good Time”. “Pound The Alarm” enters the top 50 for Nicki Minaj, it’s up 24 places at number 34. Jenifer is back in the top 50 with “Sur Le Fil” which is up three places at number 48, the song reached number 24 when it entered the chart in the week ending 2nd June.
