There are no new songs in the top 10 (apart from a “re-entry”) but there are some interesting moves. Let’s start with the number one song and… there is no change at the top of the French singles chart this week, Carly Rae Jepsen still reigns supreme with “Call Me Maybe” for the eighth non-consecutive week in her 16th week in the top 10. But she has the lowest sales figures for a number one since downloads have been included in the French singles chart in the week ending 30th January 2011, indeed she has only sold 6879 copies (-17%), that total includes 6192 download sales and 687 physical ones. “Call Me Maybe” held already that sad record when it sold only 7839 copies just two weeks ago. She is the first lead female singer to stay that long at number one since Jena Lee who stayed at the top for 11 consecutive weeks with “J’Aimerais Tellement” from October to December 2009.
So will.i.am (featuring Eva Simons) will have to wait for another week to catch the number one spot as they don’t move at 2 with “This Is Love” in their third week in the top 10 and we can see that the song’s sales figures are falling for the first time (5337, -9%). Will “This Is Love” be the next number one ? Right behind them, there is a real big new contender, as Alex Ferrari climbs the chart very quickly, indeed he is up four places with “Bara Bará Bere Berê” in what is only his third week in the chart (and second in the top 10) with 5066 sales (+13%) !
“Rayos De Sol”‘s chart run is intriguing. Here is a song which is in its eighth week in the top 10 and it is climbing the chart very slowly (10-8-8-7-6-6-5) and this week it’s up one place at number 4 for Jose De Rico featuring Henry Mendez (4505 sales, -12%). Could this be also a contender ? Or Sexion D’Assaut who are back in the top 10 with “Wati House”, the song is up six places at number 5 (4480 sales), it had already been in the top 10 before, at 10 in the week ending 17th June (with higher sales, 4907 !). We can explain their climb by the release of the video. It’s the third single from their album “L’Apogée” to reach the top 5, after “Avant Qu’Elle Parte” (number 3 for nine non-consecutive weeks from January to April 2012) and “Ma Direction” (number 5 in May 2012).
If we have new big contenders for the top spot, we have also the fallers of the week, and we can begin with Shy’m, she’s down three places at 6 with “Et Alors !” in her 7th week in the top 10 (4430 sales, -18%). Even if it hasn’t been number one, “Et Alors !” will stay as a very big hit of the summer 2012 in France. Pitbull is also a faller, down one place at 7 with “Back In Time” in his 11th week in the top 10 (4179 sales, -17%). After 12 consecutive weeks in the top 5, “Tacatà” is down four places at number 8 for Tacabro in its 14th week in the top 10 (4103 sales, -23%).
“Party Shaker” reaches a new peak position, as it is up one place at 9 for R.I.O. (featuring Nicco) in its second week in the top 10 (3938 sales, -10%). It may be the last week in the top 10 for Birdy, her “Skinny Love” is down one place at 10 in its 14th week in the top 10 (3825 sales, -13%).
Outside the top 10, we can notice that “Zumba He Zumba Ha” is up three places at 16 for DJ Mam’s (featuring Jessy Matador and Luis Guisao) in its 11th week in the top 200. Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen are still climbing the chart, as they are up seven places this week at number 26 with “Good Time” in their 5th week in the chart (2267 sales). Owl City reached number 17 with “Fireflies” in April 2010.
Selena Gomez & The Scene are in the top 30 in France for the first time, as “Love You Like A Love Song” is up two places at 30 in their 10th week in the chart. It’s a good week also for Jenifer, “Sur Le Fil” is up a massive 14 places from 48 to 34 (1676 sales), it reached number 24 as a new entry in the week ending 3rd June.
There are two newcomers in the top 50, Alex Clare is at number 41 with “Too Close”, up 28 places in his third week in the top 200, BB Brunes are also new with “Coups Et Blessures”, the song climbs 11 places at number 48 in its 7th week in the chart.
