The big news this week : there is no change at the top of the French singles chart, as Carly Rae Jepsen spends her 11th non-consecutive week at number one with “Call Me Maybe” in her 21st week in the top 10 (9696 sales, +6%). Jena Lee was the last female lead singer to spend at least 11 weeks at the top, she achieved that with “J’Aimerais Tellement” from October to December 2009. The most incredible thing about Carly Rae Jepsen‘s 11th week at the top is that it’s her best week’s sales figures ! She had sold 9539 copies in the week ending 24th June, when she was only at number two !
Will she get a 12th week ? It’s not sure at all because there is a very serious contender for the number one spot in next week’s chart, indeed “Pursuit Of Happiness” is still climbing the chart, up one place at 2 for Kid Cudi featuring MGMT and Ratatat in its third week in the top 10 (8241 sales, +13%). A former number one for two weeks in August, Alex Ferrari is down one at number three with “Bara Bará Bere Berê” in his seventh week in the top 10 (6856 sales, -14%).
It’s up three places at number four for David Guetta featuring Sia with “She Wolf (Falling To Pieces)” in their fourth week in the top 10 (5654 sales, +28%). It’s the 12th top 5 hit for David Guetta, two of them have been number ones, “Gettin’ Over You” with Chris Willis featuring Fergie and LMFAO for one week in June 2010, and “Sweat” with Snoop Dogg for two weeks in May 2011. We can also notice that it’s the second top 5 hit for Sia, after “Titanium” with David Guetta which was number three in January.
There is no change at number five for will.i.am featuring Eva Simons with “This Is Love” in their eighth week in the top 10 (5385 sales, -9%). Khaled is down two this week at 6 with “C’Est La Vie” in his second week in the top 10 (4838 sales, -22%). It’s down one at 7 for C2C‘s “Down The Road” in its second week in the top 10.
It’s a rather calm week in the top 10, apart from the number eight spot because “Good Time” has reached its peak position for Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen, as it’s up seven places at 8 in its second week in the top 10 (4150 sales). M83‘s “Midnight City” is down one at 9 in its second week in the top 10, and there is no move at 10 for DJ Mam’s with “Zumba He Zumba Ha” in his fifth week in the top 10.
One song drops out of the top 10 this week, after 18 consecutive weeks in the top 10, Birdy falls eight places at number 17 with “Skinny Love” (2941 sales). She reached number two in the week ending 10th June.
Fortunately there are interesting moves outside the top 10 in this week’s singles chart, Asaf Avidan and The Mojos are new in the top 20 with “One Day / Reckoning Song”, as they climb six at number 16 in their 13th week in the chart (2967 sales). Muse‘s “Madness” is back in the top 20, it’s up eleven places at 19 in its fourth week in the top 50 (2749 sales), it reached number 14 as a new entry three weeks ago.
Flo Rida is up 17 at number 21 with “I Cry” in his third week in the top 200 (2574 sales). P!nk gets her 11th top 30 hit, as “Blow Me (One Last Kiss)” is up a massive 22 places to reach number 22 in its 11th week in the chart (2515 sales). She only had two top 10 hits in France with “Get The Party Started” (number four in January 2005) and “So What” (number four in December 2008).
“Coups Et Blessures” is up seven places at 27 for BB Brunes in its 12th week in the top 200, “M’En Aller” climbs nine at 31 for Canardo featuring Tal in its 10th week in the chart.
The highest new entry this week is at number 32 for David Guetta featuring Ne-Yo and Akon with “Play Hard” (1833 sales). Basto climbs seven at number 34 with “I Rave You” in his eighth week in the top 200. Electric Guest‘s “This Head I Hold” is new in the top 50, as it’s up 40 places at number 37.
Ellie Goulding gets her first top 50 hit, indeed “Lights” is up eleven at 44 in its seventh week in the top 200. In its second week in the chart, Psy‘s “Gangnam Style” is up a massive 51 places at number 46 (1393 sales). Colonel Reyel re-enters the chart at number 50 with “Toi Et Moi”.
“Clique” is a new entry at 78 for Kanye West featuring Big Sean and Jay-Z. Ne-Yo gets a second new entry this week at number 106 with “Let Me Love You (Until You Learn To Love Yourself)”. This week’s number one in the UK, “Hall Of Fame” climbs 68 places at 122 for The Script featuring will.i.am in its second week in the top 200. Robbie Williams has a very low new entry, as “Candy” only enters at number 138.
