There are big news in this week’s albums chart, as we have a big seller at the top, and last week’s number one has been excluded from the chart. First, the story about Baptiste Giabiconi, his album “Oxygen” debuted at number one last week with 21149 sales, and only 130 of them were digital ones. Why ? You can find the album at 9.99 euros on iTunes, but you can also find the physical format at only 6 euros for three weeks on a particular website (vente-privee.com). So the SNEP (Syndicat National de l’Edition Phonographique) has decided to delete “Oxygen” from the album chart, it will be back in the chart when it is available in the shops. The album would have fallen to number two this week (13575 sales, -36%).
So we have a big seller, as Muse‘s new album “The 2nd Law” enters at the top with a massive 89873 sales. Only Les Enfoirés sold more copies (137730, with “Le Bal Des Enfoirés 2012”) in their first week in the chart this year. It’s Muse‘s third number one album, after “Absolution” (for one week in September 2003) and “The Resistance” (for one week in September 2009). Garou stays at number two with “Rhythm And Blues” in his second week in the top 10 (10016 sales, -20%).
Diana Krall gets her fourth top five album, as “Glad Rag Doll” is new at number three (9427 sales). She reached the top five with “The Look Of Love” (number five in September 2001), “The Girl In The Other Room” (number two in April 2004), and “Quiet Nights” (number three in April 2009).
In its fifth week in the top 10, C2C‘s “Tetra” is up two at number four (9072 sales, -2%). Vincent Niclo & Les Choeurs De L’Armée Rouge fall one place at five with “Opéra Rouge” in their second week in the top 10 (9025 sales, -8%).
The only compilation in the top 10, “NRJ 200% Hits 2012 Vol. 2” is up one place at six in its third week in the top 10. “L’Apogée” is back in the top 10 for Sexion D’Assaut, as it climbs eight places at number seven in its 29th week in the top 10 (6886 sales).
In his fourth week in the top 10, Marc Lavoine is down three at number eight with “Je Descends Du Singe” (6688 sales, -28%). Mika falls six places at nine with “The Origin Of Love” in his third week in the top 10 (6600 sales, -40%), the album has sold 43227 copies so far. Lou Doillon‘s “Places” is down one at number ten in its fifth week in the top 10 (6179 sales, -27%).
Three albums drop out of the top 10 this week. After two weeks in the top 10, P!nk‘s “The Truth About Love” falls three at number 11. Last week’s new entry, “Long Courrier” is down eight places at 18 for BB Brunes. And of course, Baptiste Giabiconi.
In her 36th week in the chart, Lana Del Rey climbs 13 places at number 13 with “Born To Die” (5105 sales), the album was at the top for two weeks in February. Adele‘s “21” is back in the top 20, as it’s up six at 16 in its 89th week in the chart (4136 sales). Birdy‘s eponymous album climbs seven at number 21, the album reached number five in June.
“Caméléon” is up five at number 24 for Shy’m in its 15th week in the top 200, the album was number one for a week in July. It’s not a good week for Green Day, as “¡Uno!” falls 15 places at 27 in its second week in the chart.
Mireille Mathieu is new at number 29 with “Mireille Mathieu Chante Piaf”, she was number 16 with her eponymous album in October 2005. Lianne La Havas is also new at number 96 with “Is Your Love Big Enough ?”.
