There is a new number one, as Céline Dion‘s new album “Sans Attendre” debuts at the top of the French albums chart with 95,569 sales, it’s her 11th number one and the first one since June 2007 with “D’Elles”. The album “D’Eux” stayed at the top of the albums chart for 44 non-consecutive weeks (!) from April 1995 to March 1996. In the week ending 16th March 1996, it was replaced by… her new album “Falling Into You” !
Benjamin Biolay enters at number two with “Vengeance” (20,421 sales). It’s his second top 10 album, after “La Superbe” which was number three in October 2009. In its sixth week in the top 10, Muse‘s “The 2nd Law” falls one place at three (13,250 sales / -11%). After two weeks at number one, “Vise Le Ciel” is at four this week for Francis Cabrel (12,556 sales / -29%), the album has sold 66,212 copies so far.
“L’Amour Fou” is new at five for Françoise Hardy with 10,394 sales. Her last album, “La Pluie Sans Parapluie” also reached number five in April 2010. Patricia Kaas enters at number six with “Kaas Chante Piaf” (10,075 sales), it’s her highest charting album since September 2000 when “Live” was at number five.
Florent Pagny‘s “Gracias A La Vida” slips four places at seven (9,518 sales / -25%). In its three weeks in the top 10, the album has sold 39,703 copies. The only compilation in the top 10, “NRJ Party Hits 2012 Vol. 2” falls four at eight in its second week on the chart.
The fifth new entry in the top 10 is for Robbie Williams with “Take The Crown” at number nine (9,227 sales). “Intensive Care” (in October and November 2005) and “Reality Killed The Video Star” (in November 2009) both reached number two. Mister You gets his third top 10 album with “MDR 2” (7,792 sales), after “Mec De Rue” (number nine in October 2010), and “Dans Ma Grotte” (number three in November 2011).
Six albums drop out of the top 10 this week. Michel Sardou is down six at number 11 with “Les Grands Moments – Best Of” in his third week on the chart (6,139 sales / -29%). After 84 weeks in the top 10, Adele‘s “21” slips five places at 12 (5,896 sales / -4%). “L’Apogée” falls four at number 13 for Sexion D’Assaut, the album spent 33 weeks in the top 10. After five weeks inside the top 10, Garou‘s “Rhythm And Blues” is down six places at 14. “Super Welter” falls 14 at number 24 for Raphaël in its third week on the chart. Disiz is down a massive 39 places at 45 with “Extra-Lucide” in his second week in the top 200.
There are many new entries outside the top 10. Sultan‘s “Des Jours Meilleurs” is new at 15 with 4,798 sales. “The Fight” debuts at number 16 for Lilly Wood & The Prick with 4,538 sales, the album “Invincible Friends” reached number 40 in February 2011. Taylor Swift enters at a low number 30 with “Red” (2,940 sales) but it’s rather normal if you consider the highest charting positions of her last two albums, “Fearless” was number 26 in July 2009, and “Speak Now” reached number 39 in October 2010.
“Music From Another Dimension !” is new at number 35 for Aerosmith with 2,505 sales, “Nine Lives” was at number five in March 1997. Barbara‘s “Best Of 2012” debuts at 39. Vitalic‘s “Rave Age” enters at number 46, “Flashmob” reached number 23 in October 2009. It’s a new entry at 51 for Ne-Yo with “R.E.D.” (1,860 sales), his last album “LibraScale” reached number 45 in November 2010.
