It’s a very exciting week in the albums chart, as we have four new entries in the top five ! Johnny Hallyday gets his 12th (!) number one album since 2000 with “L’Attente”. With 120,488 copies sold, this new studio album is his most successful one in its first week since November 2005 when “Ma Vérité” opened with 208,771 sales. In November 2007, “Le Coeur D’Un Homme” entered with 107,759 sales, “Ça Ne Finira Jamais” did with 115,221 sales in November 2008, and his last studio album “Jamais Seul” only sold 99,089 copies in its first week in April 2011.
So last week’s number one, Céline Dion slips to number two with “Sans Attendre” in her second week on the chart (48,109 sales / -50%). The second highest new entry of the week is for One Direction at three with “Take Me Home” (43,134 sales), it’s a lot better than “Up All Night” which only entered at number 15 (its peak position) in February with 4,310 sales.
M is new at number four with “Il” (38,332 sales). So it’s not (for the moment) his third number one album, after “Qui De Nous Deux” (for two weeks in November 2003), and “Mister Mystère” (for one week in September 2009) which opened with 51,073 sales. The Rolling Stones enter at five with “GRRR !” (12,454 sales), their last studio album “A Bigger Bang” reached number three in September 2005.
“The 2nd Law” is down three places at six for Muse (9,865 sales / -26%), the album has sold 189,661 copies in its seven weeks in the top 10. Francis Cabrel falls three at number seven with “Vise Le Ciel” in his fourth week on the chart (9,464 sales / -25%), it has sold 75,676 copies so far. Françoise Hardy is also down three places at eight with “L’Amour Fou” in her second week in the top 10 (9,208 sales / -11%).
The compilation “NRJ Hit List 2012 Vol. 2” is a new entry at number nine with 9,138 sales. In her second week in the top 10, Patricia Kaas falls four places at ten with “Kaas Chante Piaf” (8,014 sales / -20%).
Five albums drop out of the top 10 this week. In his second week on the chart, Benjamin Biolay is down eleven places at 13 with “Vengeance” (7,019 sales / -66%). After two weeks in the top 10, the compilation “NRJ Party Hits 2012 Vol. 2” falls six at number 14. Florent Pagny slips eight places at 15 with “Gracias A La Vida”, it spent three weeks in the top 10. “Take The Crown” is down eleven at number 20 for Robbie Williams in its second week on the chart (4,393 sales / -52%), his last album (not a best of) “Reality Killed The Video Star” reached number two and spent two weeks in the top 10 in November 2009. Mister You falls a massive 21 places at number 31 with “MDR 2” in his second week in the top 200.
“Circus” is new at 11 for the group formed by Calogero and also called Circus with 7,829 copies sold. Calogero had three number one albums, with “3” for two weeks in April and August 2004, “Live 1.0” for two weeks in August and September 2005, and “L’Embellie” for two weeks in April and May 2009.
With the release of “The Paradise Edition”, Lana Del Rey‘s “Born To Die” is back up 59 places at number 12 in its 42nd week on the chart, the album reached the top for two weeks in February. The soundtrack of “The Twilight Saga : Breaking Dawn Part 2” is new at 22, “Breaking Dawn Part 1” reached number 32 in November 2011, and only the first of the series, “Twilight” has been in the top 10, at number four in January 2009.
“¡Dos!” is a new entry at number 24 for Green Day, “¡Uno!” falls 49 places at 160 in its eighth week in the top 200 and reached number 12 in September. “Koi No Yokan” enters the albums chart at 30 for the Deftones, they had one top 10 album in June 2000 with “White Pony” which was number six. Enrico Macias is new at number 39 with “Venez Tous Mes Amis !”, his last album “Voyage D’Une Mélodie” reached number 44 in March 2011.
Christina Aguilera‘s “Lotus” only enters at number 50 with 2,008 sales. Her last album “Bionic” was number 23 in June 2010. She had a top 10 album with “Back To Basics” which reached number 10 in August 2006. “King Animal” is new at 67 for Soundgarden. Whitney Houston enters at a low number 99 with “I Will Always Love You – The Best Of Whitney Houston”.
