This year’s winner of the TV show “The Voice” Kendji Girac spends a third consecutive week at the top of the French albums chart with his eponymous LP (21,588 sales / -16%), it has sold 115,339 copies so far. Leonard Cohen gets his highest-charting album ever with Popular Problems which debuts at number two (17,285 sales). His Ten New Songs peaked at three in October 2001.
It’s also a very good week for Lenny Kravitz, Strut opens at number three with 13,395 copies sold. His last LP Black And White America reached number seven in August 2011. Calogero slips two places at four with Les Feux D’Artifice (9,840 sales / -19%), the album has sold 141,100 copies in its six weeks inside the top 10. This Is All Yours is Alt-J‘s first top 10 album in France as it enters at number five (9,508 sales). An Awesome Wave was number 45 in January 2013.
Thanks to its physical release last week, Wanted On Voyage is a re-entry at six for George Ezra (7,020 sales). Indila‘s Mini World falls four at number seven in its 31st week inside the ten best-sellers (6,400 sales / -14%), the LP has sold 413,200 copies so far. The compilation NRJ 200% Hits 2014 Vol. 2 debuts at eight (5,952 sales).
Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga get a new entry at number nine with Cheek To Cheek (5,808 sales). It gives Tony Bennett his second top 20 LP, after Duets II (number 19 in November 2011). Cheek To Cheek is Lady Gaga‘s fourth top 10 album in France, The Fame reached number two in January and February 2010, Born This Way was Number One for two weeks in May and June 2011, and Artpop peaked at three in November 2013. It’s down one place at ten for Black M with Les Yeux Plus Gros Que Le Monde in his 12th week in the top 10 (4,910 sales / +12%), the album has sold 149,600 copies so far.
Six albums drop out of the top 10 this week. In his 58th week on the chart, Stromae slips three places at eleven with Racine Carrée. Lacrim‘s Corleone moves down nine at number 14 after three weeks inside the ten best-sellers. There are big falls for new entries from last week : Suis-Moi is down 16 places at 26 for Louis Bertignac, Les Chroniques Du Wati Boss, Vol. 2 falls 26 at number 30, Slash‘s World On Fire moves down 41 places at 48, and Chris Brown‘s X is even out of the top 50, from six to number 57. His last LP Fortune fell from eight to number 39 in its second week on the chart in July 2012.
Soleil Dedans gives Arthur H his highest-charting album as it opens at twelve (4,500 sales). His Baba Love reached number 13 in October 2011. Sanseverino gets his fourth top 20 LP with Le Petit Bal Perdu which enters at 16. Les Sénégalaises (in February 2004) and Exactement (in May 2006) both peaked at five. In her 17th week on the chart, Christine And The Queens is back up 17 places at 22 with Chaleur Humaine.
Different Shades Of Blue is new at number 27 for Joe Bonamassa. It’s his second top 30 album in France, Driving Towards The Daylight was number 25 in May 2012. Sex And Love is a disappointing new entry for Enrique Iglesias, as it only debuts at 33. His last LP Euphoria debuted and peaked at number ten in July 2010. We can think the same for Lindsey Stirling, her new album Shatter Me opens at 35 whereas her eponymous LP reached number 17 in March. Yodelice enters at 38 with Like A Million Dreams. He got one top 10 album with Cardioid (number nine in November 2010).
