Week Ending 8th July 2012

Like the other “big” charts in the world, the French singles chart is rather static this week, but we can see some unexpected things. Not at the top though, where we can still find Carly Rae Jepsen who is number one for a third non-consecutive week with “Call Me Maybe”. It’s her second best week in terms of sales figures (9348, +5%) : not bad for a song which is in its 11th week in the top 10.

The unexpected starts now, as Tacabro is back at 2 (from 3) with “Tacatà”. After a 13% fall last week, its sales figures are back up (8672, 82 more sales) in its 9th week in the top 10. I thought that Flo Rida would be very close to the top this week, but I was wrong, as sales of “Whistle” are down for the first time (8288, -5%) and the song is down a place at 3.

Good news for Shy’m, as she still climbs the chart, from 5 to 4 with “Et Alors !” in her second week in the top 10 (7853, +12%). “Et Alors !” equals the best chart position of “Victoire” which was also at number 4 for three consecutive weeks in February and March 2007. “Si Tu Savais” remains (for the moment) her best charting single, peaking at number 2 in January 2009.

Another unexpected move in the chart this week is the one from Birdy whose “Skinny Love” is back up two places at 5 (7033) in its 9th week in the top 10. The sales of Pitbull‘s “Back In Time” are falling for the first time, as the song is down two places at 6 in its 6th week in the top 10 (6923, -3%).

The 7-9 positions are rather static, as Gusttavo Lima is down a place with “Balada” at 7 in his 10th week in the top 10, “Rayos De Sol” is still at 8 for Jose De Rico featuring Henry Mendez, and “Ma Direction” is a non-mover at 9 for Sexion D’Assaut in its 7th week in the top 10.

Gotye is back in the top 10 ! Last week I wondered if he could come back in the top 10 with another song, and he’s already back !… with “Somebody That I Used To Know” (featuring Kimbra). Sales figures are even up this week (5093, 23 more sales), as the song is up a place at 10 in its 19th week in the top 10.

“Payphone” is very close to the top 10, as Maroon 5 (featuring Wiz Khalifa) is up a place at number 11 (5015 sales, +1%). “Addicted To You” is another top 20 hit for Shakira, indeed she’s up 12 places at number 20 (2987 sales, +52%), she was at the top of the French singles chart for seven non-consecutive weeks with “Je L’Aime A Mourir” in December 2011 and January 2012.

The former UK number one “This Is Love” is up 17 places at number 29 for will.i.am featuring Eva Simons (2412 sales, +59%), it’s a good week also for Katy Perry whose “Wide Awake” climbs 7 places at 33 (2171 sales, +30%).

Céline Dion is back in the French singles chart ! But she enters the chart at a rather low number 32 with her new song “Parler A Mon Père” (2234 sales).

It’s a very bad week for Muse, their new song “Survival” is down a massive 66 places in its second week, from 18 to 84 (863 sales, -72%) !

Have a very nice week !
