It’s amazing to notice that Stromae‘s Racine Carrée is the best-selling LP in France for the second year in a row ! The album has sold 680,233 copies. Two albums (Stromae and Daft Punk) had sold over 500,000 copies in 2013, we have three one year later, as this year’s winner of the TV show “The Voice” Kendji Girac is at number two with his eponymous album (548,914 sales) and Indila is at three with Mini World (543,590 sales).
2014 has been a great year for Johnny Hallyday and Calogero, the former has sold 430,462 copies of his Rester Vivant, and Calogero‘s Les Feux D’Artifice is at number five with 373,869 copies sold. There are two members of Sexion D’Assaut inside the top 10 : at six, we find Black M with Les Yeux Plus Gros Que Le Monde (371,044 sales), and Maître Gims is number ten with his 2013 LP Subliminal (287,190 sales). The latter was the third best-seller in 2013 with 497,513 copies sold.
In 2013 La Boîte A Musique Des Enfoirés had sold 421,200 copies, Les Enfoirés‘ annual LP Bon Anniversaire Les Enfoirés “only” made 316,335 sales one year later. With only five weeks on the chart, Alain Souchon & Laurent Voulzy‘s self-titled album is already at eight with 300,340 sales. Florent Pagny‘s Vieillir Avec Toi was number nine in 2013, it’s still at nine for 2014 with 294,720 copies sold.
They were not far from the top 10 : AC/DC‘s Rock Or Bust (284,197 sales), the 2013 released Random Access Memories by Daft Punk (254,320), Coldplay with Ghost Stories (247,106), La Bande A Renaud (242,115 / the second volume sold 97,758 copies).
It has been a very good year also for Zaz, her Paris sold 219,016 copies and Recto Verso another 132,854. Pink Floyd and Pharrell Williams both sold over 200,000 copies, 217,170 for The Endless River, and 203,597 for Pharrell Williams‘ G I R L.
It’s not bad for Michael Jackson, his Xscape sold 129,796 in 2014, and for U2‘s Songs Of Innocence which made 128,991 sales even if it was given for free on iTunes for weeks before its physical release. It’s more disappointing for Yannick Noah with his Combats Ordinaires (113,802 sales), Bénabar‘s Inspiré De Faits Réels (57,699), and A Coup De Rêves only sold 30,304 copies for Ben L’Oncle Soul. Cheek To Cheek was not a big seller in 2014 for Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga (29,815 copies).
